Historical and economical facts for the Liberals.
SEPTEMBER 8 2003 | JVERITAS

Posted on 09/08/2003 9:24:28 PM PDT by jveritas

Below are some very important historical facts and statistics that put things in perceptive so it can show the ignorance of Liberals about history and facts. Also to reveal that all what the liberals say against President Bush on the war on Terror is based on pure hate and not on a single iota of truth, facts, or logic.

(1) WW II lasted from December 1941 to May 1945. Overall a total of 17 million men fought in WW II. The population of the United States in WWII was roughly 135 millions. In the war on terror since October 2001 until August 2003 roughly 300 thousand military men and women have participated so far including both the Afghanistan and the Iraqi theaters as well as other places in the world. The population of the United States in 2003 is approximately 285 millions.

(2) The human military cost of WW II from December 1941 to May 1945 was 292,131 soldiers. The war on Terror since October 2001 until now has cost around 320 soldiers in both the Afghan and Iraqi theaters.

(3) The cost of WW II from December 1941 to May 1945 was $ 285 billions in 1940’s money. It is equivalent in 2002 money is 2,900 billions. From 1941 to 1945 the United States annual GDP was roughly $ 300 billions. In WWII every American man, woman, and child paid the equivalent of $ 20,388 in today’s money to cover the cost of the war. The Marshall plan to build Europe after WW II was $ 13.1 billions. This is equivalent to over $ 132 billions in today’s money and most of the money went to no else then France and Germany. Since October 2001 until August 2003 the war on terror worldwide including the Afghan and the Iraqi fronts has cost us so far $ 80 billions and the President has asked for another $ 87 billions. All these numbers include the military expenses, the intelligence expenses and the infrastructure rebuilding of Iraq and Afghanistan. We will get our money from Iraq one way or another by having using firms building its infrastructure and have excellent oil contracts in Iraq. The United States GDP is 10.5 trillion dollars as of year 2002.

(4) In regards to the economical and military power of the Liberals European friends here are some facts:

France population is approximately 60 millions with a total GDP of 1.4 trillions dollars as per year 2002. Its military budget is 45 billion dollars.

Germany population is approximately 83 millions with a total GDP of 2.2 trillions dollars as per year 2002. It s military budget is roughly 35 billions.

Russia population is approximately 142 millions with a total GDP of 1.2 trillions dollars as per year 2002. its military budget is approximately $ 40 billions.

These three countries has a total population of approximately 285 millions with a total cobined GDP of 4.8 trillions dollars. Their combined military budget is 120 billions dollars.

The United States has a population of approximately 285 millions with a total GDP of 10.5 trillions dollars i.e. 2.33 times larger than France, Germany and Russia combined. Our military budget is approximately $ 280 billions i.e. 2.33 times larger than the military budget of France, Germany and Russia combined.

These are the countries that the Liberals think about it as the very important allies and international community. France who lost over 11,000 people in a heat wave because they are poor, they do not have air conditioners, and their socialist medical system is so messed up to save their own people. Germany who reduced its forces in Afghanistan dramatically after they lost few soldiers. Russia who still struggle in Chechnia and cannot win over a militia over there.

These are the facts and the truth. Please share it with your friends so we can defeat the Liberals.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

An oversight from my side, you are absolutely correct. I had the surrender of Germany in May 1945 in my mind when I wrote the article and I should have used Spetember 1945 as the end of WW II. Thank you for correcting me.

The defense budget this year was something over 400 billion. It was about 280 billion during the worst of the Clinton years.

The CIA worldfact book is showing 276 billions dollars so I took a very conservative approach in my article. If we have it over 400 billion dollars this year it will be even a further evidence of our supreme military power over anyone else in the world and we will be 3.5 times the size of the combined military budget of France, Germany and Russia. great news my friend and why we should even ask France, Germany or Russia to contribute any troops and give us more headache then doing anything substantial in Iraq. We do not need them.

But only partially correct, I'm afraid. V-J day is August 14 or 15, depending on whom you ask - Truman's announcement of the Japanese surrender came on the 14th, but the actual surrender was affected the 15th. American forces formally accepted the surrender of Japan in a ceremony in Tokyo Bay on 02 September 1945. A cool webpage, with contemporary radio clips, is here:

Radio Days - VJ Day

An amendment, that escaped my correction to the correction - the official V-J Day was declared by President Truman as 02 September. Ask anyone who was there, though, and they say 15 August.

When was VT (Victory of Terrorism) Day? Until that happens, any comparison to WWII manpower and budgets is meaningless.

If today's 'Rats would have been in charge during WWII, we'd be part of the 3rd Reich and there would be no Jews on the planet.

Are you suggesting that Iraq was an illegitimate war? Was Somalia a legitimate war/target? Where do you place Afghanistan? Clarify and thanks.

I wonder what the figures would look like if you figured in $100 hammers and $500 toilet seats or whatever the defense contractors overcharge the government these days.

The defense budget this year was something over 400 billion. It was about 280 billion during the worst of the Clinton years.

And for as little as 280 billion, Clinton bought us missile technology for China, who shared it with Korea, who shared it with Iran.
He was also nice enough to run from terrorists, long enough to ensure 9/11. Thank goodness he spent the money well, aye? :-P

Honestly. What the heck were we doing in Yugoslavia, anyway? The regime change there had nothing to do with national security!

Good points which the naysayers fail to acknowledge.

320 is the total deaths, right? Including the ones who shoot themselves in their own sleeping bags and accidents in general, not just those killed in combat? I think the actual combat deaths is 70-something for Iraq and Afghanistan is less.
