Eitam: Conflict will lead to Arafat's death
Jerusalem Post ^ | Sep. 7, 2003 | THE JERUSALEM POST INTERNET STAFF

Posted on 09/07/2003 9:31:25 AM PDT by yonif

Housing and Construction Minister Effi Eitam said the current conflict with the Palestinians will likely lead to the death of Palestinian Chairman Yasser Arafat, but he would not predict how or when.

Eitam said Israel needs to make war with Arafat, as he is the country's enemy.

"This man can't enjoy any immunity," Eitam said in an exclusive session with Jerusalem Post editors and writers.

On the broader topic of the country's future, Eitam, chairman of the National Religious Party, said "an element of Judaism - not religion" that is modern and relevant must be injected into Israeli life, or the country will fail to live up to its goals upon its establishment: a safe place for Jews, a "normal" place for Jews to live and a country with a Jewish majority.

He said the method and details for doing that should be discussed widely.

"This man [Arafat] can't enjoy any immunity," Eitam said

He's enjoyed immunity his whole stinkin' life, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

I agree with Gen. Eitam. Israel must aim for victory in the war on terror.

IDF: "Knock, Knock!"

Arafat: "Who's There?"

IDF: "ummm, Landshark ..."

Arafat: "Landshark?"

IDF: "ummm, Merkava ..."

Arafat: "but I won the Nobel Peace Prize!"

IDF: "Show it to the 72 Virgins ... adios"

As much as I'd like to see Arafat dead I don't think Housing and Construction Minister Effi Eitam is calling the shots in Israel. If Israel is going to make rat boy dead would do it covertly leaving itself pausible deniality. They would never outright kill him.

No they can't outright kill him, that would be a disaster for any hope for peace there. He has an enormous devoted following. He may reign as long as Castro.

Actually, killing him is the only thing that will bring a hope for peace. Dennis Ross, the former Middle East envoy under the first President Bush and President Clinton, called Arafat "incapable" of making peace. He, and President Clinton, blamed the failure of Oslo on him. (As much as you may hate Clinton, this time he was right.) Arafat never gave Abbas any real authority and caused the Road Map to fail as well.

As long as Arafat lives and breathes and leads his people there is no hope for peace. Killing him will have tremendously violent consequences in the short term, but probably would be very positive in the medium to long term.

In the meanwhile, Mr. Prime Minister, please finish the security fence.

I agree. Arafat is the biggest terrorist on Earth. He has murdered more civilians than any other terrorist as a percentage of Israels population if not in numbers.

He must be terminated.

Israel should completely destroy his compuund with him in it. If they don't they will never have peace. You can't have peace if you let your enemies attack with impunity.

It is unfortunate that laser guided bomb was so weak they should have used a large enough bomb to send a much clearer message. You get near these thugs and you might just end up dead. You meet with them and the chance goes way up.

I have a dream...

I see Arafat chained to a chair.
On the table before him is a bomb...
A LARGE time bomb with the large faced clock timing device that he can watch.
It is 12 hours until detonation....

Tick, tick, tick.......
Pleanty of time to think thought the wasted life he has led.
