Project 21 and the Coalition for a Fair Judiciary will hold a rally in front of the offices for People for the American Way, located at 2000 M Street, NW in Washington DC on Monday, September 8th at 10:00 AM EST to protest the appalling and unfair treatment of Miguel Estrada during his nomination to the DC Circuit Court of Appeals. Miguel Estrada was the first Hispanic nominated to the DC Circuit Court and was rated unanimously well qualified by the American Bar Association. Members of the coalition will meet at 9:30 am at Longfellow and Witherspoon Parks located at the corners of 18th Conn. Aves and M Street.

At 10:00am we will marry on the headquarters of People for the American Way. We will also be deliveing a letter to Ralph Neas informing him he is not a 101 Senator and he does not speak for America and all Americans.

Letting the Democrats roll over on the Republicans not to mention this wonderful nominee was very disheartening to say the least!

This is so pathetic. So it is up to us FReepers to stand up to the Leftist cabal? It is digraceful how Bush and "Limp Writst" Frist bent over to Schumer and Hillary. Bush is in my personal doghouse today. I am more enraged over how shabbily this President treated an honorable man like Estrada, than I am against the PFAW. At least they were doing what you would expect--fighting Conservatives. What the hell was OUR side doing?

What really makes me sick is how Bush has spent so much time and capital on the stupid Saudi-created "Roadmap" which was doomed to failure, and he has spent NO TIME WHATSOEVER FIGHTING FOR THESE NOMINEES. What a waste of high approval ratings to fight for Abu Mazen over Miguel Estrada. I didn't sign on for this nonsense.

Nice effort. I don't grasp why Bush and the GOP didn't push harder. Not that I expected them to. Unlike most on FR, I always did think they'd wimp out.

I just remember how we were told in 2000, that if for no other reason, we should vote for Bush for the judges he'd appoint.

Where are the judges we were promised on significant courts, let alone the Supreme Court?

At any rate, good luck. Maybe you'll open people's eyes to the issue.

You're absolutely right. This election season, I'll be working as hard for Bush (not!) as he has for these nominees and for conservatism at home.

I worked my ass off in 2002 for Senate, House and Gov candidates (commericals), and hardly saw my family for 6 months. What the hell was the point? We got Sax Chambliss, Norm Coleman, Jim Talent and John Sununu in office. But they need leadership from the President, which is is unwilling or incapable of providing. It is so disheartening.

I'm not sure if I can get away from work to join you, but I'll try.

Just a suggestion for future events like this: Those of us who do work in the DC area are more likely to be able to attend if the timing of the event is set closer to lunch hours. It is difficult to go to work and leave mid-morning or late afternoon -- most times the entire morning or afternoon would need to be taken off using personal leave and that might not be an option on short notice. If events were scheduled between 11-3 or 12-2, more people would be able to adjust their lunch hours to attend.

It is truly a sad day in American history when a minority group of Democratic Party Senators can redefine the meaning of the Constitution and use obstruction tactics and the politics of personal destruction to smear a highly qualified, minority judicial candidate like Miquel Estrada -- especially, a candidate who came to this country as an immigrant and, through his own hard work and dreams, has become a fine example of what one can accomplish living in America.

I wish you luck. SOMEONE should stand up for the Dems treatment of Estrada. Their obstructionism of him was meant to be nothing more than another phony Dem campaign platform.

I didn't see the 9 Dwarves' in New Mexico, but am told they all took a turn at speaking Spanish badly. I guess they were trying to make Hispanic American voters that they REALLY like Estrada and WOULD have voted for him, possibly, in some sort of way, under some set of circumstances....

But how many of the Nine Dwarves supported Estrada?

I did not want people calling up the police from 2000 M Street and saying that a group of protesters are forcing them to remain in the building at lunchtime.

Absolutely, ditto!

Jim Talent is my senator. I won't be able to attend, but I'll be there in spirit.
