[history]
In a victory for gun owners, the Michigan Supreme Court has refused to hear an appeal of a lower court decision that cities can't ban handguns from city halls, libraries and other public buildings.
The decision gives a victory to a statewide gun-rights group that challenged a 2001 ban by Ferndale on guns in city buildings.

Look at what happened in New York in July," Porter said, referring to the recent fatal shooting of a city council member. A totally different situation. I don't think NY has a CCW law, and the individual was not licensed to carry. He was a deranged nut.
What they can do in Michigan is ask to see their CCW license. The more guns the better the protection. Make this manditory for judges and lawers too. Many judges carry now without a license.

"We're horribly disappointed that we can't take local action to keep guns out of libraries and community centers," Staton said.Well, Mr.Stanton. Perhaps, you'd like to place a sign on YOUR front lawn, proudly proclaiming your home, A GUN FREE HOME, humm?

"GOD, would have a tough time getting a CCW in NYC. It's much different upsate, however." The devil, OTOH, would have no such difficulty, as I'm sure he has celebrity status at City Hall.

I've gotta ask - Is the "Hog of Steel" equipped with "NASTY LASTE"?
If you don't understand my meaning - I apologize. LASTE ('lastee') is an add-on system that helped the A-10 smoke the F-16 drivers at Gunsmoke, or so I've heard. I worked on LASTE in the late 80's.

Congratulations Michigan. Here in Texas we're still fine tuning our CCW law.
The next CCW law that may be passed could be Missouri's. I was hoping Ohio would get their act together before that.
Only six states have no CCW provisions.

Congratulations Michigan.
Here in Illinois we can only dream of your rights.

Congratulations Michigan. Here in Texas we're still fine tuning our CCW law. It's great. We've had shall-issue since July 2001, and one major revision so far which went into effect July 2003.
However, the law upon which this decision turned, went into effect in 1991. Ferndale et.al. were just petulant and whiny that their side lost the shall-issue debate in the legislature, then in the courts, then in the electorate.
