I hope they are correct that we will only get 4 to 6 inches of rain. Thats not very much for a tropical system to drop.

The upper Gulf is very hot right now. This storm could build quickly.

With luck maybe it will be a fast mover and not linger to drop a lot of rain.......

This one is # 11, I think Fabian is 10.
To: Sub-Driver
That's correct, but they're both covered in the other post.

Wasn't this going to be a year with massive numbers of hurricanes that would make the rest pale in comparison? I seem to remember last spring that the doom and gloom crowd predicted storms of biblical proportion.

Both the National Weather Service and Dr. Bill Gray have predicted an slightly above-average season; neither predicted a record-breaking season (and neither has anyone else.)
As of today we've had far more tropical storms and hurricanes than an average season would by August 30.

Yes, it's supposed to be a busy season -- and it is! Almost up to the 11th named tropical system and it's not even the season peak in September.

Are you on the Texas Gulf Coast? My 16 year old daughter is in Port Aransas for the weekend with a friend's family. Should I be concerned?

My son lives in Corpus Christi, and I'm not too concerned, they just should have a lot of rain. Now if the storm upgrades my so does my concern. Main thing is to stay out of the water...rip currents can be dangerous.
Living near Waco we haven't seen rain since June so we're hoping for a storm!
Here is a link that might help...

I am in Houston but the entire Texas coast is going to be affected. Port Aransas is on Mustang Island. There used to be a ferry that took you across to Aransas Pass (the mainland) may still be, I haven't been there in years. If she is with locals they will know when to leave. If they are tourist they will be advised. This is not a very bad storm so far. The worst that could happen is that they could be stranded over there if the ferry stops running. Anyway can you call them & find out what is going on? If I was there I would leave, just so I wouldn't be inconvienced. I'll bet they have already left.

My son was at work and was not even aware of the storm. He said they had blue skies with some clouds.
