(From the "Kusinich for President" web site)
Water as a Human Right: Ten Principles
-All water shall be considered to be forever in the public domain.
-It shall be the duty of each nation to provide accessible, affordable drinking water to its peoples.
-There shall be public ownership of drinking water systems, subject to municipal control.
-Wealthy nations shall provide poor nations with the means to obtain water for survival.
-Water shall be protected from commodification and exempted from all trade agreements.
-Water privatization shall not be a condition of debt restructuring, loan renewal or loan forgiveness.
-Governments shall use their powers to prevent private aggregation of water rights.
-Water shall be conserved through sustainable agriculture and encouraging plant-based diets.
-Water resources shall be protected from pollution.
Our children should be educated about the essential nature of water for maintaining life.

From the title, I thought this was going to be a glowing editorial endorsement. ;-)

I can't believe anyone would ever take this idiot seriously. Doesn't anyone remember what he did to Cleveland a long time ago? Ran it into the ground.
While I agree on several of his water issues "Weathly nations should provide for the poor" is BS. If they don't have water, MOVE TO WHERE THE WATER IS! YOU LIVE IN A FRIGGING DESERT, NOTHING GROWS THERE, NOTHING'S GONNA GROW THERE!

Where to begin?
-It shall be the duty of each nation to provide accessible, affordable drinking water to its peoples.
Or what? If they don't, do we sanction them? Bomb them? What punishment will be levied against countries that fail to comply? What if they just don't have the resources to meet these standards?
-Wealthy nations shall provide poor nations with the means to obtain water for survival.
How much? Which nations pay what percent? But, gee, little questions like that aren't important, as long as your intentions are good.
-Water shall be protected from commodification and exempted from all trade agreements.
Why is commodification bad? Do you know it will ALWAYS be harmful to trade water? Maybe that's the only way some countries will be able to provide the safe, drinkable water mandated above.
-Water shall be conserved through sustainable agriculture and encouraging plant-based diets.
Again, or what? Who gets to decide what counts as sustainable agriculture? Is it the business of governments to "encourage" (scary word when associated with government)everyone to be vegetarian?
-Water resources shall be protected from pollution.
Who would argue with this? But again, who pays for it, and how, and what do you do to those who fail to comply?
Our children should be educated about the essential nature of water for maintaining life.
Pretty radical, controversial statement there. That will show all those people demanding we keep anything about water out of the public school curriculum.
Typical liberalism. Details, costs and results don't matter if your intentions are good.

His points just don't hold water. How he stayed afloat all these years is beyond my ken. When I was in Cleveland I was drowned by his policies that made little sense. Thankfully, the oars of national government are beyond his reach. Maybe he could get a well paying job at Whirlpool. If not, he could just continue being a drip.

All water shall be considered to be forever in the public domain. Brilliant. In one stroke, he would single-handedly destroy the bottled water industry, and zap all swimming pools and hot tubs as well. After all, they're only water, and therefore in the "public domain".

Although it would probably be a good idea to spell his name correctly. It's Kucinich. I oughta know, I have the miserable fortune to have him representing my district.
