California: Davis staff applying for jobs outside the administration, "in droves"
KFI AM640, Los Angeles | August 21, 2003

Posted on 08/21/2003 6:50:33 PM PDT by John Jorsett

I've been listening to KFI news all day and have been hearing this story, which has yet to appear elsewhere as far as I can see. Reporter Vicky Moore has been reporting that Davis staff and appointees have been applying for jobs all over the state in large numbers. The spokeswoman for one of the PR firms cited in the story (sorry, didn't write it down) used the term, "in droves". The obvious reason is that, whatever their public face, these people know their jobs are going to be gone in October along with the Davis administration, and aren't waiting. Mentioned was frustration with Davis, who micromanages and doesn't let them do their jobs, so there's little loyalty. In fact, though none of the Davis people will talk right now, given the governor's known vindictiveness, they've been promising to "dish the dirt" and tell "unbelievable stories" once this is all over. There are 3000 appointees/staff in the administration.

In my Department, one of our internal review people is getting pressured quite heavily to sign off on several Form E's. The Form E is what is gets submitted to the Board of Accountancy to qualify some one to be a CPA.

The interesting part is, that the pressure is being put on by and for a whole bunch of morons that started infesting our Department about 2-3 years ago, and this pressure started about three weeks ago...

I don't think they could dig their way out of a wet paper sack. They'll just be absorbed back into Social Services, the DMV, or wherever they were found in the first place.

What I'm interested in is what is Gray Davis going to do? He's been feeding off the public trough his whole adult life...

If any of these rat clymers are left after we haul Herr Davis out of his mansion, they should be the new governor's first budget target.

They started abandoning the SS Graytanic in July when they realize the petitions for the recall had enough valid signatures.

When will Willie Green post a series of sad threads about these 3000 political hacks/flacks losing their job.

When the body count of fired/resigned flacks gets up over 30,000, we will have a good base and start.

Well, if he can resist the pressure, October 7 is just a few weeks away. I feel sorry for the guy though. If he does the right thing and tries to blow the whistle, or tries to make an allegation that he is under pressure to qualify people who are "unqualified" his career if doomed and the "system" will hold it against him forever. Even with Davis out, his career would be toast. Any number of Davis people who benefited from the Davis reign have been promoted and could be his superiors for a long long time. I don't even know if an "anonymous" tip to whoever is appropriate would be advisable, because it would still splash back on him, and it would still doom him. And, even an anonymous tip could possibly go someone who got the job because of Davis, and once it is determined that he is resisting actions favoring "Davis" types, he could become an investigative target. Ther civil service system can be a career boneyard for some.

The last I heard was from Tom McClintock, who's planning on circulating the petition to get repeal put on the ballot. He said he's waiting for the Secretary of State to approve the petition. Which the SoS was supposed to have done a week or two ago and, surprise, hasn't.

Uh, I meant KFI's publicity gimmick to pay for one call-in listener's tripled vehicle tax every day. It sounded very clever, as well as a gimmick that would keep the vehicle tax in everyone's mind locally during an "election season". Anyway...

He said he's waiting for the Secretary of State to approve the petition. Which the SoS was supposed to have done a week or two ago and, surprise, hasn't.

Huh? That situation sounds as if it could use a lot more publicity too...
