The family and friends of legendary actor Charles Bronson are gathering together after The Dirty Dozen star was given only days to live. Death Wish star Brosnan has been fighting Alzheimer's Disease for the past two years, and suffered organ failure earlier this month. Doctors tending to the 81-year old have told his family to prepare for the worst and say their last goodbyes to the star. A relative tells British tabloid The Sun, "(The Alzheimer's) is heartbreaking. He doesn't know he was an actor, let alone a big star." The Great Escape actor's wife Kim is now making final preparations to bring him home to die as he requested. A friend adds, "Charlie's wife Kim promised him she would honor his wish to let him die with dignity."

One of the very few, honest to God, tough as nails, actors that ever lived.
Hollywood has forgotten that our heroes were the same off screen as on.

I remember one of his films where he encounters some punk and asks "Do you know Jesus?".
The thug nods.
"Well, you're gonna meet him," and then shoots him in the head.
Somehow dying quietly at home doesn't seem like poetic justice.

I miss him already, I really liked him in the Death Wish movies and Once Upon A Time in The West. I also saw him in a very good episode of the Fugitive.

Very sad. It sounds like the final descent was a rapid one. I wish him and his family the best of a quiet and blissful end for The Man With No Name.

RIP Mr. Bronson. Soon you'll be freed from that stinking disease. Oh, and please - when you get to heaven - say hi to my mom?

When Bronson was a very little boy, his parents dressed him in his sisters' hand-me-down dresses. This was fairly common at that time. It may explain how he became a tough-as-nails persona.

IMO his best film was The Mechanic with Jan Michael Vincent. Chilling movie.

I know Eastwood was TMWNN in several Speghetti westerns, but Bronson played TMWNN in the best one: Once Upon A Time in the West.

Yes, we are. And I don't see anyone on the scene today with the talent to replace them, let alone the sense that Bronson seemed to have. I was surprised that he was 81, though.
