"There's a great deal that I'm sure Arnold Schwarzenegger could teach me about making movies," State Sen. Tom McClintock, R-Thousand Oaks, said on ABC's "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos. "There's a great deal I could teach him about the fiscal reforms necessary to set this straight - this state right. But there's no time for training."

lol.. So true.

Schwarzenegger's rivals, seeking to throw the actor off his stride, criticized his support of Proposition 187, a divisive 1994 ballot initiative that aimed to cut off social services for illegal immigrants.

Art Torres, chairman of the California Democratic Party, which has lined up behind Bustamante, slammed Schwarzenegger for choosing former Gov. Pete Wilson as his campaign chairman.

"There's a famous phrase in our community, and that is, judge a person by the friends that he keeps," Torres said. "And unfortunately, his new chairman, Gov. Wilson, supported 187 furiously against immigrants and Latinos."

Arnold should tell them to bring it on, and call Torres on his race-baitiing lie. This could be a great boon to his candidacy, expeically if he takes a stand against motor-voter driver's licenses for Illegal Aliens.

Heck, I might even vote for him if he did.

That would be a smooth move, reinforcing his take-no-prisoners image.

Schwarzenegger did indeed vote for Prop 187, along with 60% of the rest of California's voters. Though I'm finding it interesting that the OC Register is saying that Torres has lined up behind Bustamante, since Torres last week was against the recall completely.

The advisers did not release Schwarzenegger's total worth, but said shrewd investments in real estate and equities have made him very wealthy.

As Mark Steyn pointed out:

Arnold made his first business investment at 19, using savings from his bodybuilding contests to buy a failed Munich gym. He turned it around. The first really big money he made in America in the early 1970s came when he and a fellow bodybuilder started a bricklaying business. He's one of a very few actors who was a millionaire before he ever acted. And, if you think it's no big deal being the world's highest-paid movie star, you try it - with a guttural German accent so thick you can barely do dialogue and a body frame so large you're too goofy for playing love scenes. From his gym to his mail-order company to his masonry business to his shopping malls, Schwarzenegger has shown a consistent knack for exploiting the fullest financial value from even his most modest successes. Who would you say best embodies the spirit of California? The guy who has made all his own money? Or the fellows who've squandered everybody else's?

This is all going to get pretty interesting. If Arnold has been a liberal up till now, with the liberals beginning their attacks on him, he may turn more Conservative ---- he certainly can't go more liberal than Bustamante and if he has any ideas to save California, they will have to be Conservative ideas.

He donated $4.9 million to charity

...a bit more than Algore's few hundred dollars.

Could Davis stop all this by just quitting? Bustamante gets the governorship. Bustamante announces Davis as Lt. Governor. Bustamante quits. Davis is back.

LOL!! Yes ---- "hasta la vista" is his most famous line -- I'm not sure it's going to go over with the illegals.

Umm, it's actually a man is known by his enemies. Anyone who makes an enemy of Art Torres and the Illegal Alien Aztlan lobby is a friend of mine. After some very agonizing thought, I think I'll be voting for Arnold, even though McClintock is the better man. But we need to be ABC -- Anyone But Cruz -- and unless Tom has a crystal clear shot at making up a 5% to 40% differential, we should toss our lot in with Arnold and work with Tom for 3 years hence. We ALSO should be working on Arnold to make Tom part of his team -- both pre and, especially, post election.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.

This is like the billionth time someone has asked. Do a little research. If Davis resigns, the recall is still on and Bustemante is bounced out on HIS butt on Oct 8 (unless he wins).

Either way, nothing can stop the recall in its current form.

No matter if Davis resigns or not, the recall proceeds none the less. Whomever wins the replacement candidate election becomes Governor after the results are certified.
