[history]
A 15-year-old boy foiled an apparent abduction attempt when he pulled out his cell phone camera and snapped photos of a man trying to lure him into a car, police said.
The teen also photographed the vehicle's license plate and gave the evidence to police, who arrested a suspect the next day.

Way to fight crime, kid!

I'm surprised this made the news. Isn't there a law or something banning the publication of stories about homosexual predators unless they happen to be catholic priests?

"It's surprising the kid had the presence of mind to use the technology under duress," Detective Capt. Robert Rowan told The RecordNow hey! As a teen myself, I resent that remark! A lot of us are very smart! (such as myself, cough cough)

It's surprising the kid had the presence of mind to use the technology while under duress. And normal untrained citizens can't have a gun because of the way they might act under duress.

Doesn't matter. We need to ban cell phone cameras because someone, somewhere, might use one to take a picture up someone's skirt.

Hmmmmmmmm, I think buying stock in cell phone companies might be a good move.

Modern Technology is...Amazing!
Every Kid in America should have a PhoneCam!
Then maybe the Sex-Predators would think twice about doing the UNSPEAKABLE!
The Lord was with this Teenager, and Thank GOD that it came to a positive conclusion this time.
There should Not be any threat of second, third, or forth time "Offenders", because the FIRST time anyone is put in Prison for Sexual Offences...they should be LOCKED AWAY FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES!

I couldn't agree more. I've had very few problems getting teenagers to understand how to use GPS position indicators and digital radios, including those with packet message and slow-scan TV capabilities, on search and rescue team exercises. It's the older operators used to generations of older equipment who are harder to retrain.
But even more interesting goodies are right around the corner, and some neat tools and toys are just down the road.
