One would think a successful author such as Tom Clancy would be able to influence a film adaption of one of his works. ROTFL! Did you see how Third-World Islamic Terrorists turned into the more palitable "Neo Nazies" in his last movie?

Is that the Japanese one? No. I'm not sure which book you may be thinking of - I haven't read but four or five of them. "Without Remorse" is the book exclusively about Mr. Clark and how he became "Mr. Clark". Its set back in the mid 1970's I believe, soon after Vietnam.

I thought Affleck was a terrible Jack Ryan. Now Leonardo DiCaprio as a CIA guy? He'll get his ass kicked all over hell and back. Sheesh.

In a 1992 essay in "The Tom Clancy Companion," Bond wrote: "We first met when he bought a copy of a war game that I had written. Harpoon was probably one of the best naval wargames of all time. And while his writing style isn't quite as warm as Clancy's, I like Bond's books a lot better; they better capture the "military" feel of the older technothrillers. The quality of writing in Clancy's books has been constantly downhill since they stopped collaborating.

Yeh, Quaid would be good. I bet they'd end up casting some younger actor, or someone like Vin Diesel.

He is an industry. The videogames (which I play) are really incredibly good. They introduced, and essentially rule, the small, squad based shooter. They win tons of awards are among the best (out of all games) every year.

Double ditto that.

Oh, ok. I remember now. The decompression chamber. Its funny that so many people remember the book by that.

Is that the Japanese one? Debt Of Honor. Some people speculated that this book inspired 9/11. At the end a Japanese Sympatizer flies an airliner into the Capitol building.

DiCaprio really isn't that bad of an actor, but he is just not manly enough to play many of the roles that he is cast. Gangs of New York was a great movie and DiCaprio's acting was first rate, but he looked like a fifteen year old trying to grow a mustache.
The baddest brawler in New York? Fougghetaboutit.

I actually liked Debt of Honor. Ususally I like Clancy's bad guys better because they have more dimension than his protagonists.

On my copy of debt of honor, one of the reviews says that the book "has an ending so plausible, you'll wonder why it hasn't happened yet." such irony

Debt Of Honor. Some people speculated that this book inspired 9/11. At the end a Japanese Sympatizer flies an airliner into the Capitol building. Ok. I didn't remember that it was a Japanese sympathizer. I know someone who has read all of his books and has briefly told me about all the ones I haven't read over the years.

Agreed. I've played Rainbow Six/Rogue Spear and I own Ghost Recon. (Still have yet to get Splinter Cell and RS3.) Much more realistic than say, Soldier of Fortune or Metal Gear Solid. Ghost Recon was a little too hard though. Hard to get through without having to save every 30 secs.

Me too. He's become too long winded and (always wanted to use this word,) formulaic.
I bought Bull and Bear and could absolutly put it down.

I loved the Clancy Novels, however the Op-Center books sucked!
