You have me at a disadvantage. At 13 you're a little too young to hear what I really think about excerpters, linkers, and those who defend them.

And while you're free to refer to undergarments, it would be creepy for an adult to return the favor in a reply to a kid, so I'm ending this discussion with you.

I think the police are the least of the protesters worries, half the people in Georgia are armed and they don't take any BS. If the protesters try and riot, there will be bloodshed. And if that don't make them think twice, the insects, heat and humidity will.

Just a few random ramblings... you're right, except probably 80-90% around here are armed... I grew up in St. Simons, Sea Island's a little east & north, and far as I recall, it's a private island- that "they'll have to let us in" won't fly.

This is a very, very conservative area- Hell, even the Democrats are conservative, for the most part! One reason my little one-man protests against Clinton never got much traction is that nearly everyone here absolutely despises him & his enablers- it's preaching to the choir.

And just a personal note- the local media is crowing about how this is going to make us all rich and famous- but I don't buy that- it will be like Jimmy Carter visiting Musgrove Plantation years ago- a moment of fame, then forgotten...

Hey, I lived on St. Simons off and on when I was a kid. I have not been to St. Simons in 12 years, but I still go to Brunwick often. Brunwick is still a nice place to be. I hear they are finally going to build a bridge to the main land on the North end of St. Simons.

A posting by the group Food Not Bombs in Berkeley, Calif., said it may build a "a floating food warehouse and communal kitchen to serve delicious vegan meals to participants arriving at the island by kayak."

Good Lord Almighty, the level of ignorance regarding locals, customs, and general information in this article is astounding!

First, let me quip, "Fools, even our vegitarians are meat-eaters... we're that backwards down here!"

Second, the writer's map may tell him Savannah is 60 miles away, but it's really closer to 90... I know when I leave home to go there to allow 2 solid hours of travel to reach their downtown area from mine.

Saint Simons is accessed by a single causeway, but Sea Island is even farther, and also isolated by another causeway off of SSI. It is not a simple trip if the police don't want you to make it. Many a criminal has been nabbed in roadblocks on either causeway.

And there's more- the heat, humidity, and malaise of summer here has to be experienced to be believed- it gets so dam' hot that walking from your house to your garage in the outside air will soak the lightest clothes with sweat- I mean dripping wet. I change out of a tank-top and light slacks at least twice a day, more if I do any work outside.

The local waterways, except for the Intercoastal Waterway, are shallow, serpentine, and usually dead-end. Even experienced boaters get lost and grounded routinely here.

Well, that's the story they tell, but there are EPA problems, DNR problems, and financing problems- I have always wanted a second access to SSI for safety reasons- like a hurricane coming! It is talked about a lot, but so far, nothing concrete has occurred.

Since I live in the South End, I naturally appreciate your comments. I grew up at 102 Hamilton Street, SSI...

Hopefully, the vegans will all go to Savannah. That way, Brunswick, St. Simons, Jekyll etc. will all be protester free.
