If the U.N. is serious about going after illicit arms, I suggest they first disarm Kofi Annan's security detail. They were busted here in the United States for possesion of illegal assault weapons.

But then, it'd become all too apparent that the U.N. has but one intention: disarming every citizen and making them subjects.

Really, is there anything surprising about this? The United Nations is a union of governments, two thirds of which rule nations that have been classified as not free. Is there anything a tyrant fears more than an armed populace?

And, moreover, aren't some of those African countries embroiled in horifically deadly civil wars THE LEAST-ARMED civilian populations in the world? I remember seeing a thread indicating so. All this means is that the United Nations wants to give more power to GANGS AND THUGS by elminiating their top deterrent to VICTIMIZING YOU--the fact that you'll shoot back!

The UN pretends to be an organization founded on democratic principles. Not a single member there was elected by "the people." All NGOs in the UN are unelected and unaccountable to the people. You cannot start an NGO unless you agree in advance to kowtow to UN dictates and perform accordingly. The UN is a den of liars, thieves and assorted fascist, communist and nazi dictators. Claiming the UN is a democratic institution is akin to calling an old jackass a Kentucky Derby race horse.

Most of the world doesn't share American attitudes to firearms.

Most of the world has never had a chance to express their view in a meaningful way. Do you trust the govt of China, Cuba and Libya to tell you what their enslaved people think about this?

So if 51% of a population votes to "get rid of unwanted minority X" that is okay with you? That is why we live in a constitutional republic, not a pure democracy.

A pure democracy is two wolves voting to have the sheep for dinner. Are you certain you want that?
