Fascinating.
Two fault lines connect under the temple, and cut through bituminous limestone.
Ethylene was detected in water samples, which in certain concentrations induces trances, or hysteria.
(As noted in the article..)
Truly weird.
And by Plutarch's time, the Oracle had become irregular and sporadic. Would seem to be that the geological activity lessened whatever stress was producing the ethylene.
