I’m 42, I’ve dated a women for 8 years. Been engaged for 2 years. She has two kids from a previous marriage. Even though I have known and trusted her for years Marriage scares the Beejeesus out of me.

It should. Relationships are immediately torpedoed by marriage. It sucks rocks in every way. DO NOT DO IT. Remain engaged.

Laz,
Do you have kids?

Two people need to understand before they start that it is a situation where one must give 110% and expect nothing back. That is a quote from my dad.
Too many women today want the 50's hubby when it comes to providing and the 90's whimp when it comes to everything else. Men are men. They need to act like it and no amount of whinning by a woman will make them otherwise.
I love men, I especially love the one I have. He is not the ideal of the "perfect man" (although I think he is close) and Lord Knows! I am not the "perfect woman". He puts up with me and that is grand.
It's those women who sit on FR all day (ah-hum, me) then tell their man that they can't go out on a Friday night to relax with their pals after they worked hard all week providing the house and food, (not me) that bug the crap out of me. Geez, cut these men a break!!!!

It has to be with the right person. Times can get tough but it can also be very rewarding, kind of like life.
