I didn't know he left, but cool! Gay or not, he was a great frontman.

Judas Priests rocked!
The question is, will Halford, who has publicly come out, tour in a dress or his leather?
To: Welsh Rabbit
Gay or not Definitely gay. It was obvious all along.

Yeah, great news. But what about Warren Zevon. He has cancer and is not expected to live much longer.
One returns and another is on his way out. There has to be something profound in that.

Heavy metal fans actually have a pretty conservative streak. Metal is blue collar cock and role. Yeah Rob's gay, but he doesn't make a big deal out of it, his attitude is basically that's just how it is and let's go back to talking about the music. And Judas Priest is the band that instructed a generation that we are all defenders of the faith.

I guess he decided to rejoin Judas Priest instead of launching a career with the Village People.

Yeah like his leather outfit was so not gay. Come on, Halford is the guy that bridged the fashion gap between metal and stonewall.

Ran into him on a golf course in Scottsdale c.a. '83 or '84. Dude was wearing checked golf pants and an izod shirt.
Didn't look hell-bent for leather to me.

It was obvious all along.
I know now, but as a young teenager I was heavily in denial about the obvious (the guy wore crotchless leather pants; I made excuses).

Hell yeah!

C'mon! Rob came out on stage looking like "Glen" from the "Village People" (to paraphrase his own statement) and nobody got it?
My God! He was the classic, "gay-leatherman-biker" stereotype in that outfit! A-freakin'-mazing that nobody knew he was gay.
Still, it is funny that he created what became the definitive "image" of metal...and all the other bands emulated him with the spiked leather collars and gauntlets, the black leather, etc. Pretty funny that the metal "look" was defined by a gay man from Birmingham, England.
Priest rules. Gay or not, Rob's got a great voice and always has. Priest was one of the few good metal bands. They're legends.
Will be happy to see them on tour again.

Gee, next thing you're going to tell me is that Freddy Mercury was gay too.

He'll be in the leather...trust me. And he'll be riding his Harley out on stage again.
Priest put on a great stage show. To see Rob fronting them again will be amazing.
To: dfwgator
Freddy was bi, he was actually married to the designer of their costumes for a while.

Pretty funny that the metal "look" was defined by a gay man from Birmingham, England. Is there any "look" that doesn't have its origins in the gay community?
