What’s in a bumper sticker?

By J.King. Edited By Jeremy Rousse.

I was always into selectively putting bumper stickers on a vehicle; I was never one of those people that chose to slap whatever stickers I could dig up on the backside my automobile. I wasn’t like the drivers of those cars or minivans you see lumbering in the slow lane of the interstate peppered with “Fear this and that” or “My kid’s outdone your kid in something or other” Not that there’s anything wrong with those stickers-I’ve had a couple in my life-but they were always a one at a time, dealing with the U.N. or anti-gunners.

Then we bought a jeep and that all changed. I looked at the back of the jeep one day and decided that my vehicle needed to have some sort of statement. It stood out like a huge green billboard and it needed to have some sort of propaganda plastered on it-but nothing too much. Something that wasn’t too out there and too complicated for someone on the road to avoid his getting into a sixty-car pile up while trying to read it.

Well, I started with three bumper stickers. All three were short and sweet, and matched very well to my vehicle. One was a classic sticker of our flag, which by the way I change whenever it needs to be replaced after being faded and beaten by the sun. The second was a Marine sticker. It’s there so whenever some one comments about it they can hear all about my grandfather and what he did during WW2 to secure the freedoms they enjoy today. The third was a sticker that simply stated, “Politicians prefer unarmed subjects.” I got a few smirks on that one. Then one day while at a gun show with my wife and a friend who is a Boston cop, I came upon three more stickers-none of which, I decided, I was leaving with out. One was a sticker that just stated “Don’t tread on me” a classic statement picked up buy us S.O.L. soldiers

The next two bumper stickers I picked up though were to be my limit for sticker selections. Yet they would be the pieces on my miniature billboard that evoked the most frequent responses. They were stickers that quoted a man who almost at one point ruled the world; a man who through his actions created the ultimate police state. Yet his quotes and actions are so close to what the Leftists with in our country try to achieve, it’s sickening. I think that’s what makes the readers that flip out in their cars after reading these stickers; they burn with discomfort knowing that they have so much in common with such a nefariously regarded mad man.

The first sticker is quoted “The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so.” - Adolf Hitler, April 11 1942, Wow, this sticker was a must-own, and it has seen an unbelievable red faced series of tailgaters in its day. However, my most prized sticker is the following: "For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead in the future!" -- Adolf Hitler 1935” This one has caused people to almost explode in their nice pretty Saabs as I sit at red lights awaiting the inevitable change to green. It’s so funny how these anti-gunners freak when they realize their Liberal Socialist agendas have so much in common with a man who only wanted to exterminate half of the world. I cant count how many times I’ve blown up laughing at people who would literally turn redder than the red light as they came to this realization. I’m sure they’re thinking, “Oh, but the Liberals are so sophisticated and only want a world of peace by taking the guns out of the hands of children, J.King!” Well guess what Mr. Liberal, that’s the same thing old Adolf wanted- a world of peace-yet you had to meet certain criteria, like having blond hair, blue eyes, and not be of any other religion other than the religion of the state! Yeah, that’s freedom, ain’t it?!

Now I can’t say all my responses to the driving billboard have bean bad. Many patriots have driven by me waving, giving thumbs up and nodding their heads in approval. I even had a WW2 veteran come up to me at the post office and let me know how scary our leaders’ speeches of this day and age sound more and more like the sticker I had. Sad, isn’t it? What a shame it must be to this honored vet. to realize the country he fought for has been subverted and infiltrated.

My favorite response though, to date, happened in my home city of Boston. My wife and I had gone down to a friend’s wedding-one of my good buddies from ‘back in the days’. We had all gone out to dinner and there met the man who would marry them; He was an Englishman who just happened to be a singer. I won’t name him to keep him safe :) Well the night was going well up until we went outside and we gave him and his girlfriend a ride back to my friend’s place they had rented on the ocean. As we had gotten into the car they had stopped to read the bumper stickers. Upon getting in side they began to comment on them. Now if you know my wife and I, we are very much the gun-toting American OUTSPOKEN patriots. And outspoken is capitalized and in bold for a reason. If you know us, you know this to be true.

Well their comments at first seemed to be inquisitive as to the point and meaning of the stickers. When I told them it was basically a wake-up call for anti-gun Liberals, whose motives and actions are very similar to Socialist Nazis, things began to go downhill (I was told later by my friend that this singer had a couple anti gun songs! Thanks for the forewarning there, buddy!:) Nonetheless, the conversation went South quick as we stated our case and like most Liberals when they are outnumbered he zipped it and found the quickest exit-too funny! What upsets me, though, is this: This man was a European; a Brit at that. He should very well know all about the Nazis and Hitler’s master plan. Hell, the craters from the Dorniers and ME110 bombers are no doubt still present in some places in England. Why then are they so quick to disarm themselves? We all had seen the horrifying N.R.A. videos of tons of British guns-priceless family heirlooms-being scrapped due to the ‘No guns in public hands’ law of England! Are these people not the least bit afraid of the future? I mean almost all of Europe has fallen right behind them in disarmament. Do they expect the U.S. to bail them out yet again when the next madman decides to ‘create his master race?’

What can you do? Other than do your darnedest to prevent this trend from hitting OUR soil. We as Americans must be ever vigilant. With the new Patriot Act and Homeland Security Bill we must be ever more prepared for enemies abroad and moreover, from within. I’ve stated before that old Adolf had yelled, “The only way to defeat America is from within!” Maybe I could make that one a bumper sticker. I wonder how many heads that would turn?

We as Americans need to keep up the good fight. Keep our bumper stickers readable, our knowledge of our past and history as sharp as tacks, and when all else fails, our powder dry! I’ll be dammed if the N.R.A. will ever have a video of MY rifle being cut in half on television. They’ll have to first saw the arm off that’s holding it!

I wonder how many people (myself included) would purchase and display it in a hearbeat?

The back of my car is a multi-sticker, in-your-face-liberals, pro-Bush billboard. A couple of people up in Mass. flipped me the bird at various red lights. I was highly amused. I wonder which one ticked them off? My anti-feminist sticker? My Boy Scouts support sticker? My pro-life sticker? Or my simple "I support President Bush" sticker? The mind is certainly compelled... ;)

Roger that . . . the vigilance that this article speaks of is noble but if one wants to defeat Lucifer, it'll also take some serious spiritual vigilance. IMHO.

Sorry but I'm pretty sure that second Hitler quote has been debunked as being false. I'll try to find a cite for it. (I'm not sure about the first one but the second one has been extensively discussed.)

If it wasn’t for the fact that it would cause that “sixty car pile-up” you mentioned, I’d be tempted to print this on a very LARGE bumper sticker and plaster it on the back of my pickup.

Something to think about

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control.
From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. .
From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1938, Germany established gun control. .
From 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews and others, who were unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1935, China established gun control. .
From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1964, Guatemala established gun control. .
From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1970, Uganda established gun control. .
From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1956, Cambodia established gun control. .
From 1975 to 1977, one million “educated” people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

The number of defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: ABOUT 55 MILLION!

So, the next time someone tries to tell you that this country needs MORE gun control laws, ask them:
“Who do YOU want to round up and exterminate?”

Last year, I passed a car on the freeway that had side by side bumper stickers . . . they read "Meat is Murder" and "Keep Abortion Legal". It was at that moment that I understood the term "emotionally retarded" when used to describe liberals.

Here's a stand alone quote . . .

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.

Another possibility:

"With guns, we are citizens.
Without them, we are subjects."

Heh. I have "Save the Males", "So you're a feminist... Isn't that Cute", and "Don't like logging? Try using plastic toilet paper!" on the back of the 'Podmobile.

Next in the hopper: There's room for all God's creatures... right next to the mashed potatoes. < grin>

"With guns, we are citizens.
Without them, we are subjects."

That, essentially is one of the bumper stickers on the back of my truck. It says:

"A man with a gun is a citizen
A man without a gun is a subject."

It is balanced (visually, not philosphically) by the one on the other side that reads:

"Fear the government that fears your gun"
