Gen. Clark Won't Rule Out Running as Republican

Former NATO Commander Gen. Wesley Clark said Tuesday that he hadn't ruled out running for president as a Republican.

Clark hails from Arkansas and was appointed to head NATO by Democrat president Bill Clinton, who praised him last week as someone who would make a good chief executive.

But Clark refused to be pinned down on his party affiliation during the following exchange with Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes" co-host Sean Hannity:

HANNITY: All right, I want a straight answer. I was watching you on Russert a couple of Sundays ago. You clearly are moving in the direction of running for president, correct?

CLARK: Well, I am certainly considering it.

HANNITY: Yes, and you would not run as a Republican under any circumstances you can think of?

CLARK: I haven't said that.

HANNITY: Would you?

CLARK: I just haven't said that. I just haven't crossed that bridge. So I'm not going to cross it.

HANNITY: Have you ever voted for a Republican in your life?

CLARK: Absolutely.

HANNITY: Are there Republicans now that you admire that you would tell us about?

CLARK: Well, I served in the Ford administration. I was a White House fellow. I worked for Paul O'Neill and Jim Lann in the Office of Management and Budget.

HANNITY: You seem to be leaning pretty heavily Democrat. I read up on you a lot. But you don't want to go there. Why the mystery? Why can't you say if I run I'm going to be a Democrat? If I run, I'm going to be a Republican? What's so mysterious about that?

CLARK: I served 34 years in uniform. I was 38 years, counting my West Point time. I had "U.S." on both collars. I'm essentially non-partisan, but I do have some views about what the country should be doing.

Is this Bill Clinton Machiavelli bs? Everyone knows Gen. Sissy Clark is a Democrat/ Clinton wannabe. Are they trying to give Dubya a primary challenge from a loser SOB like Clark?

Any general that gets, or tacitly accepts, a recommendation from Bill Clinton; has two strikes against him right there.

Personally, I wouldn't entrust our nation to Wesley Clark.

This guy strikes me as an exceptionally intelligent person. I worry about him running for President as a Democrat.

On his Russert appearance several Sundays ago, he said some very stupid anti-war things, and I wonder about whether he swears allegience to the UN or to the USA. Maybe a good Freeper, a bit more resourceful than I, could dig up some of these quotes.

My point exactly. Do you think Patton or Macarthur would like Clinton? Twisted cowards like Clinton have always been hated by honorable, brave man.

No General that allys himself with Bubba is worth his stars.

But could he complicate the Republican primary (presently we don't need a primary?) And cause Bush to deplete his General Election war chest?

Yup, and the way he ran the Kosovo War was inept.

He couldn't shine the shoes of the fella who shines Tommy Frank's shoes.

Wesley Clark is a Clinton tool.

But could he complicate the Republican primary ...?

That ... is a laughable suggestion. No honest Republicans need -- or will -- apply

Are there ANY Republicans who will give him any money? You can't run without cubic big bucks, and only dims would give clinton's pick money.
Also, the Republicans get most of the money from a lot of little donations, the dims from a few rich elitist dim dumb dims.

that he hadn't ruled out running for president as a Republican

That is as ridiculous as saying Hitlery would run on the Republican ticket. No difference. Both hate the US and parrot the anti war/anti Bush/anti USA lines.

I heard the same stupid statements from this ex-commander last night and figured that he is the perfect running mate for McCain. Both are ex's and wannabe's and disgust me........

Triple agendas for Clark

#1 - Low chance of being Prez

#2 - Raising his media consultant and speech fees

#3 - Easy run later for Congress

Obvious, using free media to promote himself...
