The balance between pro-choice women and women who say abortion should be outlawed or severely restricted is shifting toward the pro-life side, bumping that group into the majority in the debate over reproductive rights, according to a new national poll.

Dear YaYa123,

Sure it's huge. Whatever Faye has to say, it doesn't really matter.

There was a great graph in the written version of the article in the Washington Times. It showed that:

- 30% of women favor the current legal regime of essentially abortion on demand;
- 17% of women favor a complete ban on abortion;
- 34% favor a ban with the exceptions of rape, incest, and life of the mother.

That's where you get your 51%.

But, another 17% favor laws more restrictive than they are now, though not quite a nearly-complete ban.

Thus, 68% of women favor abortion laws more restrictive than they are now.

Not huge?

I know what you mean, and I'm thrilled with the results, (which were done by Princeton poll, I think), so Waddleton couldn't deny them. But look where this gets serious coverage, The Washington Times.

When Tim Russert, Chris Mathews, the NYTIMES, Newsweek and Time admit and and cover significantly, that American women are predominantly pro-life, sadly, I don't consider it "huge".

I agree. However, I note that ALL the Justices at the time of Roe v. Wade were men. It would be fitting if a woman Justice were to be among the ones who give women their rights back.

Let's hope this is accurate, and then translates into pro-life elections with added momentum!

Exactly. They pull the victime routine. Of course when it comes to waiting periods and pre-abortion counseling, the tune is that women are smart enough to make their own decisions and have already thought things through thoroughly before seeking an abortion.

You're right. I'd love to see a Republican candidate such as President Bush turn to his Demo-Rat rival in debate and say, "I think American women are too good for abortion, don't you?"

Actually, GWB has been pretty good on this issue. But there are the OTHER Republicans...

Limbaugh played this up today, but I hadn't heard the source. This must make Wattleton puke.

Great News! Now watch the tides of politics slowly move over to our side since it's all about votes and keeping their jobs. Once the poll is over the apex of 50% and they see that more Americans are turing pro life, they too, will slowly change.
