Did not take long, since the SUPREME's decision, to go on the offensive re: DIVERSITY and AFFIRMATIVE ACTION. Jobs at the exclusion of people and races we don't like.

African Americans American Indians Asian Americans
Gays/Lesbians Hispanics/Latinos Older Workers
Veterans/Military Transition Women Workers with Disabilities
And, of course, job postings /searches for companies wishing to exclude types of races, sexes at the alter of the Diversity Gods.

The only silver lining is that monster.com's jobs are all fake!
Hubby tried for a YEAR sending out resumes to monster.com ..and they're all fake jobs!
So, bring 'em on. The diversity people will probably be the FIRST to sue!

A lot of people here will probably disagree with me, but I support any private (not government) business' right to hire or not hire according to whatever criteria they like. Race, sexual orientation, religion, or whatever. I recognize that it is a legal issue, but I don't see that it should be.

My mother just became Hispanic (can't trace the maiden name, right). Now I am 50% diverse.
If I claim to have a homosexual relationship, will that make me 100% qualified?
A Scottish-Latino "Bi"...that's me

so now white men have to be closet straights. (/s)
The court said you can't have overt discrimination. Saying the job is for non-whites is overt discrimination.
To: templar
You are correct.
The question here is do you really have the right to spend your money how you see fit, or does the government own you and your money and they will tell you how you will be allowed to spend their money?
To: Swanks
Not news really, surprised that it took Monster this long to get a diversity section up. There are already multiple diversity focused job sites that have been around for years, long before the recent SC decision. See www.imdiversity.com and www.hirediversity.com, for example.
It's good for certain business.
In a previous job, I was involved with large telecom and energy utility companies, all have programs to actively seeek out "diversity" suppliers and contractors and business partners, doing so gets the company all kinds of financial and tax benefits.

I support any private (not government) business' right to hire or not hire according to whatever criteria they like. No, not a lot here are going to disagree with you. The problem you are going to have here is that there will be no end of people, including me, lining up to point out that it is only when it is the exclusion of straight white males that the government seems to believe in the concept of free association. Otherwise, you ain't allowed to do that, and that double standard makes a lot of people's blood boil.

If these two could do it for a apartment, I guess you could do it for a job.;)

I refuse to go to Monster.com anyway. Andrew McKelvey is one of the biggest freedom grabbers in the entire country.

I completely agree..
I am so, totally, completely sick of all this "diversity" crap that I am willing to just allow people to discriminate on whatever basis they may choose and call it fine with me.
I recognize that it is a legal issue, but I don't see that it should be.
That's where the problem comes in, it's not equal treatment.
I can't refuse to hire someone because they are Black (for example) but people are free to discriminate against me because I am White.

The only silver lining is that monster.com's jobs are all fake! It's been well over 18 months since I last perused monster.com but I seem to remember the site as having an abundance of the:
"MAKE $10,000/WEEK STUFFING ENVELOPES FROM HOME!!!"
and the. . .
"EARN BIG $$$$ SMOKING POT AND HAVING SEX!!!"
. . .type of jobs.
All bogus to say the least.
