In the summer of 2001, Abbey, then 13, was an aspiring cheerleader spending a week at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., as part of a sports camp held every summer for hundreds of teenagers. "I really wanted to be a cheerleader when I got to high school," she said. "I thought I was going to learn some new tumbling skills for cheerleading."
But by the time her one-week camp session was over, Abbey, who had just finished seventh grade, would be sexually assaulted by Robert Burdge, a 22-year-old Air Force cadet who was serving as a counselor at the camp.

The girl's father should track this SOB down and do what he has to do to mete out some justice. The AF screwed this girl twice.

But she was just consenting at the time. And 13 was the age of consent in Eygpt.
But, But it was in my private bedroom.
But, but I am sick and tired of you imposing your morals on me-- now if you will just let me get back to the work of the american people...

Later, when Burdge made contact with Abbey, he used the same lie to win her trust. "He told me that his mom and my mom were like best friends, and that they went way back
and like his mom called him and told him that he needed to watch out for me," Abbey said. "I believed him."
But, But he is just lying about sex...

another irritating thought is that this scumbag was NOMINATED and won his spot in the academy. Just think of the decent all American applicants who missed an opportunity to serve their country through this institution due to this pig.

Very attractive young man, too bad he's a whacko child molester. Too bad he only got 60 days for this. I hope he gets booted out of the AF. We don't need scum like this in our military.

WTF is the matter with the Air Force.
They had him on tape talking about the crime.
He should be doing thirty years, at a minimum.

She came on to me...
Who dragged that $100 bill through the trailer park...
Where have we heard this type of story before?

60 days?!? 60 years would be too light a sentence. Can someone explain again on what historical basis the Supreme Court ruled that it was cruel and unusual punishment to execute rapists? We'd been executing rapists for centuries before they decided to rewrite Western mores.

For pleading guilty to sexually assaulting Abbey, Burdge was kicked out of the Air Force Academy, labeled a sex offender, forced to repay the cost of his education, and given 60 days in jail. He was booted out. It looks as though the namby-pamby lawyers let the weasel plea bargain his way out of Leavenworth.

I normally dont do sarcasm, but with the culture of permissiveness, we will see more of this.
What are they going to do when it is a 13 year boy with scat rolling, rainbow flags and golden showers?
I suppose it will al be ok then.

This is beyond disgusting!!! I can't believe he got only got 60 days in jail. (plus a few other trivialities) It sure looks to me like the Air Force has some kind of guilty conscience or something about some other folks who "got the pass." Maybe I'm just speculating. Is this military justice?
