Ann Coutler's new book Hidden and undersold by BORDERS-Hiilary all over the store

Posted on 06/27/2003 9:45:55 AM PDT by mandingo republican

Just went to Borders on Broadway near Wall Street in New York City to buy Treason by Ann Coutler. Only 8 copies of her book were displayed on a stand to the side that wasn't even facing the door. When I bought it - it was 30% off I got a dirty look by the pretty Gen Xy college student cashier. She even made a point to check the back of my credit card to see if the signatures matched up - they seldom do that.

On the other hand - Hillary's book was displayed all over the palce! In the front in the back, on carts EVERYwhere! There were hundreds of Hillary books strategically placed all over - when you walked in you were faced with a wall of Hillary!

The bias will never end!

Who do you use online? I had a terrible experience at Border's (the same crap everyone runs into - Ann's book was nonexistent and Hillary's was everywhere) and would like a few new online options.

Amazon.com is not even close to what it used to be. I have waited as much as 10 days for a book that supposedly ships in 24 hours.

But that is not the only reason I refuse to use them anymore: They no longer have a telephone number available for customers to call. Nothing, zero, nada. And when you email them, they respond as though they didn't even read your email. Plain and simple, they now officially suck.

I went to the Borders on Oracle (by Tucson Mall) last Saturday to Buy Ann's book as a gift for my Father's birthday. Hillary was everywhere! There is a poster of her book next to the entrance.

Hillary's book was front-and-center on the rack of "top new releases." It was listed as #2, right behind Harry Potter (Ann's book wasn't even on the list).

I found Ann's book (4 copies stacked on a table, facing away from the front).

Yesterday, I went back to Borders to buy a magazine. Looking around, I couldn't find any more copies of Ann's book.

During both visits to Borders, I kept an eye on the Hillary books, and didn't notice a single person looking a copy, let alone buy one. This was for a combined total of 2 hours in the store.

What about booksamillion.com? I've never used the online site, but I have been to their stores.

Every clerk should check your credit card signature. I thank them when they do and raise heck when they don't. Don't complain about somebody doing their job right.
