Nine-day-old baby gets an earful at AC/DC gig

Mon Jun 23,10:54 AM ET

HOCKENHEIM, Germany (AFP) - A couple anxious not to miss out on a concert by ear-blasting heavy metal rockers AC/DC took their nine-day-old baby with them, police in Germany said.

Other fans at Sunday's gig at the Hockenheim Formula One motor-racing ring in southwest Germany warned police after seeing the 41-year-old mother in the spectators' seats holding the baby.

The couple only agreed to leave after a doctor at the scene warned them of the danger of exposing a nine-day-old baby to such noise levels.

Police have now opened an official inquiry into child neglect.

I don't think I'd consider AC/DC to be heavy metal. They are more in the hard rock category.

I wonder what Angus had to say about this?

NOT taking the kid to the concert would be neglect.

Many years ago, I worked in a nightclub that had live bands (very loud). I was pleased to see that the wives/girlfriends of the band members always put earplugs in the babies ears when the band guys were practicing before we opened.

This couple should be as smart as those 20-something American girls were.

This is so stupid I can't believe it. Late term abortion is legal, but a couple taking their baby with them,to a AC/DC concert is illegal. The nuts are running the assylum.

You're absolutely right. I can think of no better way to give a new-born infant a leg up on life than by destroying his hearing and having him breathe in pot smoke.

LOL! Bump

An AC/DC and Police double billing would be interesting but I bet it sells out nonetheless.

Of course, they'd have to prevent the AC/DC fans from beating up the Sting fans.

Wonder what would happen if they took the baby to a 50 cent concert?

but pot is illegal, nobody should have it or be smoking it at a concert.

as far as taking a baby to an AC/DC concert, they couldn't find a baby sitter.
some people need to re-examine their priorities,
How can you party at a concert and hold a baby at the sametime

You mean to tell me you cannot see the irony in fact, that up to 8 days pior, that baby could legally have been euthanized. And yet here the parents not only do not opt for abortion(or leave the child alone like cases,I have read in the news)but take the baby with them, and its illegal. I grant you it is not the way I would raise my child, but I cannot dectate common sense.

Abortion has nothing to do with it. There are other things parents should not do -- including exposing their new-born infant to pot fumes and damaging sound levels.

What -- now you're gonna get all screechy on me and claim that what the parents did was A-OK?

Sure, it's ironic, but the fact that they COULD have killed the baby days earlier does not negate the sheer stupidity of exposing a newborn baby to such an environment. The goal should be to stop stupidity before AND after birth.

Hey Missisiippi man, I was born in Boonsville. Dad was born in Tupelo (like Elvis) and mom in Burnsville. My whole family is from the NE corner of the state.
