Where Have You Gone, Joe McCarthy?

Where Have You Gone, Joe McCarthy?

What the West really needs today, in fact what we desperately need, is another man with the courage, fortitude, and stamina of the (unjustly) infamous junior Republican Senator from Wisconsin: Joseph R. McCarthy. Though he was judged harshly by his contemporaries, and has suffered even more at the hands of historians, the truth of the matter is that Joe McCarthy was one of the greatest heroes of the 20th century, one man with the courage to stand up against an Establishment willing to turn a blind eye to communist infiltration and to fight against it, and its supporters, despite terrible odds. As Ann Coulter points out in her forthcoming Treason, the man bought America the thirty years it needed to find Ronald Reagan, who finally put the Soviet Union in its grave.

Today we are faced with a threat remarkably similar to that which existed in McCarthy’s day. We are engaged in an all-out war, with the enemies of freedom placing the Judeo-Christian peoples of the decent West under a state of perpetual siege. Nation after nation has, in recent decades, been lost by the cause of liberty. Much of continental Europe, the cradle of the West, has already fallen into the hands of the enemy. Increasingly, it is apparent that even Canada is now in the enemy camp. In the forthcoming struggle, in this great Civil War of the West, there will be agents of the foe everywhere. They are, in fact, already there- operating not on behalf of the interests of their country, but acting under the authority of other masters. They propagandize on behalf of the cause of international socialism, the evil creed which has sapped the vitality of Europe and, in place of the continent which once conquered the world, substituted one full of limp-wristed, hedonistic, libertines.

They mean to do the same to us to, for our own good of course, replace our present Western way of life with their own concept. To replace the Judeo-Christianity of the West with the Atheist perversion of the post-modern West. To facilitate this, the advocates of this alien way of life have placed evangelists and agents in every single key area of our society. They do not have the best interests of our civilization at heart- they mean to subvert our way of life and, as we destroy the most successful civilization in all of human history, convince us that we did the right thing. This evil must be exposed, driven underground, and ultimately destroyed. That is why we need him again.

McCarthy is a conservative martyr- a man who gave his very life for the cause. Only seven years passed between his famous Lincoln Day speech in Wheeling, West Virginia and his untimely death at the age of just forty-eight, but in many of those years he performed a service for which all of mankind owes him an eternal debt of gratitude: he managed to destroy the careers of many communist agents and fellow travellers in the highest circles of government while working to fully awaken the American people to the growing danger posed by internal subversives. His efforts, which resulted the much-maligned but little understood phenomenon known as ‘McCarthyism’, set back the efforts of leftists by decades, driving persons acting as virtual agents of a foreign power from public life for over a decade and forcing other potentially subversive individuals to move underground. His battle was the holding action which allowed the decent Judeo-Christian traditions of the West to survive long enough to win the Cold War.

One of the things that most people get wrong about McCarthy and his history is just what he was responsible for. For example, it is often implied that the trials and tribulations of the ‘Hollywood Ten’ (who, by the way, were virtually all communists) are the result of the actions of McCarthy even though the committee they appeared before was the House Un-American Activities Committee (hint: Senators aren’t members of the House of Representatives). Similarly the Alger Hiss affair is widely blamed on McCarthyism even though McCarthy wasn’t involved in the case in any way, shape, or form and it occurred before his famous Wheeling speech (oh, and it ought to be noted that the Verona decrypts tell us with great certainty that Hiss was a Soviet agent). The execution of the Rosenburgs are also often pointed to as an excess of McCarthyism, despite the Rosenburgs were communist spies who passed on Atomic secrets to the Soviet Union. McCarthy’s investigations centered on communists in the government and, in part, worked to raise public awareness of the dangers of traitors all throughout America.

In America today (and, indeed, in the whole of the West) disloyalty and treason are at an all-time high. Untold millions of people engage in daily acts of treason, indeed they flaunt it and insist to us that it is their right to ‘dissent’. Indeed, I believe, most of us would agree that they do, in fact, have a right to do just that: dissent. The leaders of the modern left, however, inhabit a different universe than we, the decent people of the Earth do. To them nations, history, and peoples are concepts without meaning, shapes without form, dissent is respectful disagreement. A proper dissent is the dissent of a patriot, like General Bradley during the Korean War who said that war in Korea was, “the wrong war, at the wrong place, and the wrong time, and with the wrong enemy.” Respectful disagreement with a nation is not disloyal; it is the essence of a democratic society.

However, respectful dissent is not the order of the day. When a liberal defends the right to ‘dissent’, they aren’t talking about those who have these kinds of simple disagreements. They’re talking about people like musician Chrissie Hynde who, speaking before the Iraq War, told an audience, “Bring it on! I hope the Muslims win!” That, my friends, is not ‘dissent’. It’s treason. When Columbia University Professor Nicholas DeGenova declared that he hoped that US forces in Iraq suffered a “million Mogadishu’s”, he wasn’t exercising his right to dissent: he was committing treason.

These are not isolated examples; they are simply a few of the most public ones. We can all recall other recent cases of treason, John Walker Lindh and Jane Fonda immediately come to mind there. There are traitors and disloyal individuals operating at virtually every level of American society- in the government, in the media, in the schools, and in the entertainment industry. The American people tolerate this only because they are unaware of it. That is where McCarthy comes in.

We need another McCarthy to stand up and wave in his hand a list of the traitors who have infiltrated our society and to launch a righteous crusade to drive them from public life. Many contributed to the fight against Communist subversion, but it is McCarthy we remember all these years later and who the left still fears and hates. That’s because, when McCarthy revealed the extent of the communist infiltration, the people were with him. It took them four long years of slander and lies to finally defeat McCarthy and, in that time, they lost years which could have been used to subvert American society. McCarthy put the left on the defensive, made them proclaim their loyalty.

We need to investigate the nests of traitors in Hollywood and the Universities. We need to flush them out and make them swear loyalty to America, we need to challenge their views right on and force them to either foreswear their seditious ways or leave public life forever. The subversives in high places cannot be brought down by reasoned, careful debate, for they control most of the means of communication. We need a screamer, a shouter, a scrapper, a fighter: we need another McCarthy.

Now, as always, there will be many, including many supposedly on the right, who will attack and insult such a person. There will be, as there were for McCarthy, those who will claim that they support his aims but oppose his methods. When those days come, we need to go back to what Tail-Gunner Joe told the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago once, when he said that, “when they say they don’t like our methods, I’d like to ask them what other methods they know of which would be effective… and when and where they have ever exposed a communist by their methods.” The supposed advocates of moderation, we all know, have never been effective in combating subversion and enemy attack and, for that matter, we know that they will never be effective in this. Moderates are meant to rule in times of peace and steadiness. These are not such times, and that is why we need him so badly once more.

I don't know if anyone out there knows this or cares, but the actual person who cracked the code and basically nailed the rosenbergs (he didn't testify lest the soviets find out how the rosenbergs were really caught)turned out to be a relative of Pat Buchanan.

Pat Buchanan did not know that until the guy contacted him after doing some kind of geneology search. Pat mentioned in an article awhile back on the aniversary of his cousins passing. Its a small world.

Exactly right. McCarthy is the most unfairly maligned statesman in American history. He did nothing but attempt to fight for the country, to defend it from Communist infiltration, and for that he was driven to his death.

There are two things worth noting about McCarthy's downfall:
1) He was betrayed early on by the 'moderate' Republicans.
2) A homosexual was responsible for his ultimate downfall.

Where Have You Gone, Joe McCarthy? I thought everyone knew the answer to this. He of course switched to the Dim party and enforces political correctness and writes speech codes.

But McCarthy did no such thing. His investigations involved the search for subversives in government. And quite frankly, the level of treasonous activity in Hollywood today is just as concerning as it was in the 1940's. Should we go arrest actors and such with leftist ties? No. But we should put great pressure to shut down the projects of leftists.

The reckless lying heartless McCarthy destroyed the conservative movement for about a decade.

He was reckless, he didn't lie though. However, when he died, only one friend of his showed up at his funeral, only one friend cared to pay respect to him. The chief councle for the hearings and the man who prepped Joe, gave him the questions to ask, and wrote the guidelines for the hearings.

That man was Bobby Kennedy.

Coen, I think, a brilliant amoral lawyer, who liked the sort of sex that killed him early from AIDS.

I would be in jail if Joe had been in totally in charge, in my time. I have read plenty about Joe. He was a reckless liar and drunk, who didn't care about anything but his own publicity. He wandered the streets of Washington in his last year after being censured. He himself was a useful idiot - - for the Left, who made him their poster boy for a generation.
