If only Sarah Saga were trying to crash a men's-only golf club. Then she and those like her might be guaranteed some sustained media coverage. As it is, this intrepid 23-year-old American mother is now holed up with her two children in the U.S. Consulate in Jeddah in a desperate bid for freedom.

I know I am going to get flamed but, after reading that this happens time after time to American (Western) women married to Saudis, why do they continue to marry moslems?

the Saudis still insist on remaining the only country we know of where an American accused of no crime is not free to leave when she pleases.

I'm surprised this got through the WSJ fact-checkers.

Cuba, Vietnam, India, and Indonesia - among other countries - require an exit visa. If you're denied that visa (or lose it), expect big delays, not an exit "when you please."

The woman in question is the daughter of an American woman who married a Saudi. She was born in the US and is therefore an American citizen. She has been held against her will since she was a child.

Aside from that, the Embassy is there to protect the interests of American citizens. They help out all kinds of stupidity, not just dumb marriages.

What an Arse of a father.

And what a great 9th Century country, huh ???

Ms. Dornier says her Saudi ex-husband (Sarah's father) has always vowed he'd see Sarah dead before seeing her return to America. Safely ensconced inside the consulate, this woman now faces the usual Saudi choice given those in her predicament: your freedom or your children.

Ms. Saga isn't the first American woman to report death threats from a Saudi father or husband. Nor is she the only one to have sought refuge at the Jeddah consulate. Another American woman spent the last two weeks with her three children in the same compound, with the Saudis saying she could go only if she left her American children behind. Surely there exist other American woman too terrified to risk even trying to get to a U.S. consulate or embassy.

So...packages can be sent by diplomatic courier. As far as I know, there is no real limitation on the size of the package. So just have them put in boxes under diplomatic seal and delivered to one of those American military bases with military transports. Load them on the transport, take off, let them out of the boxes. Problem solved.

American Women stupid enough to marry arab nationals, of whatever country, deserve what happens to them, stupidity must be rewarded, but a kidnapped American Child deserves to be rescued by the full might of the American Government. If it means dropping a Ranger Batallion into Riyadh, then so be it.

This woman was forced into marriage by her Saudi Father. She is an American citizen. The Saudis are devils and no American citizen should be forced to remain with a murderous husband-not of her choosing. If she is sent back, she will be beaten unconscious and no doubt die in an accident (sarcasm)- being thrown out of a three story window, or shoved down some stairs or perhaps burned up in a suspicious house fire. I am going to contact my representatives and the White House. One of the reasons I did not vote for the first President Bush is that he allowed a poor American woman to be sent back to her Saudi master back in 1990.

This should not last another second.

These are Americans, who did nor commit any crimes, being held prisoner by "our friends the Saudis".

Americans are allowed to make mistakes of the heart and not be thrown to the wolves.

They made it to American soil at the Embassy.

That they are not already on the way home, flashing the finger to the Saudis, is more proof that our President kowtows to these Wahabbi beasts.

I was referring to her mother's marraige. All this pain and suffering flowed from that act.
