There was a thread about this a few weeks ago...I printed out the article and got it to Mitchell Paige who just might have a little clout in this matter. He's a recipient of the Medal of Honor from the Guadalcanal campaign.
He's doing well in his mid-eighties here in the desert, by the way. If I recall correctly, he's now the second oldest surving MOH recipient from World War II.

This is nothing more than a publicity stunt to get Americans attention. These people think that they will make money off of pissing on Marines and American History. I say we retake the Island and turn it into another Hawaii.

My father fought there in '42. It was a bloody mess, he went through hell.
So, much of what this country fought for is undone, this is just another example.
I am surprised the VERMIN AT THE ACLU isn't behind this.

The consultants say a more contemporary and recognizable name is needed.Naming it after a stupid flower will make it "more recognizable" or "contemporary"?
How about re-naming it "Semper Fi International"?
