I don't see why it follows that she was a Republican spy. Yes, she worked as a fundraiser for the Republicans. But the conduit through which the information came was most likely these FBI agents, one of whom took a position at Lawrence Livermore Lab under clinton.

The story does suggest that the corruption and treason in the FBI goes back earlier than the clinton years, perhaps to the time of the Vietnam protests, the Church Committee, and all that.

John Berthelsen seems to have an agenda here, namely to smear the Republican administration.

I did a Google search for Berthelsen and came up with this very suggestive article here. Apparently he was shaped by the Vietnam war, and is some kind of antiwar leftist.

Maybe someone can post an answer to this question -- if she was supposed to be spying on the Chinese, why were the FBI her "handlers"? If she was spying for the US (and she was), then her handlers should have been CIA, right? And yet there is no mention of that. As for her being a double agent -- it is usual procedure for an agent that is dealing with senior foreign figures to be able to provide them with data. So yeah, she was a double agent. But how much of this was authorized by the CIA? The big question with a double agent, is what information is provided, and who controls the information provided. To get access to the Chinese data that she got for the US, she was clearly going to have to represent herself to the Chinese as spying for them. And it is unlikely that the CIA was unaware of this -- it is pretty normal, is it not? So is this something that is really a CIA-FBI behind the scenes battle? Lots of unanswered questions here.

Anyone with CIA knowledge want to comment here?

I could get more exercised about supposed GOP spies if anything significant had happened to Democrats who helped the Chinese in their satellite-launching quests in exchange for campaign donation.

Damn, I hate it when they use this BS. They were NOT sleeping. They were having illicit sex. I doubt if they ever slept in the same bed at the same time. Why in the hell doesn't the media ever say it like it is?
