ITHACA NY-- An American flag on the roof of City Hall was replaced after graffiti was sprayed onto it Thursday night, Ithaca Police said.
A symbol made in orange paint appeared on the American flag as well as several other structures in the city, Deputy Chief Lauren Signer said Friday.

Flying an American flag over Ithaca automatically vandalizes it.

Each year around April a graffiti crew is added to the department to combat a problem that persists until the cold weather, said Richard Searles of the Department of Public Works.They should round up any teens that used to live in Los Angeles, that should make a dent in this problem.
Being that I live in LA I have the upmost sympathy for your plight.
Ithaca sounds like Berkeley-east!LOL

BLAST AND DAMN!!! Sorry, but when idiots diss the flag it really gets my temper up. I followed Old Glory halfway around the world and back.
I put the leftists on notice, do not diss the flag when I am around.

Ooooooooooo. Somebody in Ithaca disrespects the American flag. Like I didn't know that before. Big news. (Yawn.)
The most significant sentence in the article is this: "There are many people in the city that would like to see the people who did this hung upside down from the flag pole and spray painted," Searles said.
Now I would call that encouraging.

Someone from Ithaca came into my dad's store today with a book she had co-written called "Collateral Damage," containing pictures of Iraqis from before the US invaded. On the last page, it said that the bombing had already started, and that it was unknown if the people in those pictures were still alive.
My dad is a liberal, but I hope he's not willing to carry that book in his store. I left it for him, and she'll be calling tomorrow.

"diss"="disrepect"
It is not safe to "diss" the flag when you and/or I am present.
