May 22, 2003 -- ALBANY - The state has lost another $100,000 in Quick Draw money as restaurants and bars continue to protest the coming ban on smoking in public places by turning off the Keno-like game, officials said yesterday. On Tuesday, 2,755 Quick Draw terminals were in operation, bringing in $1.19 million - that's down about 8.5 percent from the average Tuesday, when there are 3,014 Quick Draw terminals on, with sales reaching $1.3 million, said Lottery spokeswoman Carolyn Hapeman said.

State's smoking ban draws protest
NYC Smoking Ban: Stick Your Butt in Bloomberg's Face!
Passive smoking risks in doubt, study says
Cig Cops to Pack it in at 11p.m.
Thoughts:
I like the idea of this kind of protest. Lots of civil disobedience and maybe a bit of down right gnarliness is what is required.
For example: I think we need to harass and torment the people trying to enforce this law. They are these quasi-LEO's in the NYC Health Dept. (See 'pack it in at 11', above) I've called them Bloomberg Health Nazi Pigs in that thread, and I think I'll stick with that. They are bad people and need to be treated accordingly. I encourage all good people in NY to discriminate against such scum daily. Here are some ideas:
If you are a banker and bloomberg health nazi pig wants a mortgage, tell em to sleep on the street.
If you are a baker and bloomberg health nazi pig wants a loaf of bread, tell them to starve.
If you are a parent tell your kids they are never, ever to trust a bloomberg health nazi pig. Furthermore, make sure your kids know it is okay to hate bloomberg health nazi pigs and a heck of a lot of fun to tease the hell out of a bloomberg health nazi pig's kid.
We have to get mean. These people are occupying a once free nation and they really, really need to have their ass kicked.
Excellent news. Makes you feel proud to be in NY that not everyone is going to lay down and take the fascist legislation that liberal democratic terrorists running the state keep throwing at us. Good for them.
Sad to say, but the state law was passed with the support of RINO Governor Pataki and the RINO controlled State Senate.
Yes I know, NY just does not have many conservatives willing to stand up for the principles of limited government, whether it be economic or with respect to our personal lives.
Too many liberals living here who apparently enjoy the socialist, tax and spend nanny state.
I'm not a smoker either and I feel the same way. Businesses on private property should have the option of allowing smokers. There's no law that says anyone has to patronize it if they don't like it. Last I knew, this was still America.
More shooting oneself in the foot.
But it's absolutely insane that even conservatives who dislike smoke can't see the absurdity of banning smoking in bars. IT'S A PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHT!
I did not say harass kids. I said that under care from their parents, kids could be encouraged to tease the kids of bad guys.
My point is that when someone stands up for the smoking bans, you can positively I.D. them as a bad guy. Bloomberg Health Nazi Pigs and those that believe they have a right to clean air in someone else's private space are bad people -- meddling, state teat sucking, scum. That makes them a great learning opportunity for kids.
"These people hate you, Little Johnny. They hate you because of all of our first principles. Private Property, Free Association, Individual Responsibility, Limited Government... everything we hold dear, they find despicable. As you go through life, Little Johnny, you will have chances to discriminate for good. And you must seize upon them. If you have to pick Suzie or Jane for the last spot on your gym team and you know Suzie's mom is a Health Nazi, then you know to pick Jane and tease Suzie a bit. Afterall, her mom has devoted her life to pissing on your GrandDaddy's grave. Later in life you will have the chance to further the cause of good by discriminating properly when you hire people for your company, choose a wife, a banker, neighbors, etc. Every day of your life you will be presented with opportunities to discriminate for freedom. One way you can do this now, is to make little Suzie uncomfortable about the hostility her mom has for us. Remember, her mom hates us and everything we stand for."
We have to fight back. I refuse to be nice. And, I think that parents have an obligation to help their kids learn the idea of discriminating for good.
Higher taxes, more regulations, who can blame them?
