Yep .. It's all the mans fault

It's almost like she has a distaste for men...I wonder who could have given her an attitude like that?

This sure looks like the same deal as worked out last month:
BUSH COMPROMISES ON TAX CUT
where what was originally $700 Billion turned into $350 Billion.

I read something from somewhere that Hilda's Mother was a big influence on her daughter and taught her not to have much respect for the opposite sex .. and I'm sure Bill proved her mother right

OK, I guess I was wrong .. it seems that there were talks between the House, THe White and the Senate and they were ok with Joe's amendment and it was passed with a voice vote

ALSO, Joe changed his vote to the Tax Bill from a No to a Yes and wants the record to reflect it

That I saw and can't see the usefulness of it except to change political reflection upon him. I don't get it.

Because it was such a close vote he had to vote the party line .. My guess is Hillary sent out a memo

Since the bill passed and his vote doesn't make a difference anymore, he can now switch it and claim to be on the side of the people in voting for the tax cuts

He'll use it when he's up for re-election

This is all moot really. The States are lining up, and we'll be doing good to break even. No one else sees this pattern? Stop monkeying around with this convoluted tax code and scrap it. Blackbird.

With this package, added on to the package of 2001, over the next few years, we will be getting MORE than Bush campaigned for in 2000. It's a win for us any way you look at it.

Right on. I haven't always been pleased with the President's domestic policy, but his tax cutting performance has been absolutely brilliant.

with the 90 in offsets, the real total so far is 440, but the media just can't bring itself to say so

Thanks for the ping. It looks like "W" little trip in Indy paid off. Maybe the thousands waiting in line helped give Bayh the message.

"The vote on final passage was identical to the vote on the dividend amendment except that Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., also voted yes. In a written statement, he said he supported it to take strong action to spur the economy, but would oppose a final House-Senate compromise if it contained the same budget gimmicks or grows larger."

The bulk of the bill moves up cuts in income tax rates passed by Congress two years ago, increases the child tax credit to $1,000 and gives married couples a tax break.

Quote from below: Taxpayers with investment income of more than $2,600 are not eligible for the credit.

If this is a tax cut for the rich, then I'm a donkey

* Increase these amounts by $1,000 for joint return filers.

What's New for the Earned Income Credit for 2002?
Beginning in 2002, several changes apply. The computation of the credit is based on AGI rather than modified AGI and on taxable earned income rather than on both taxable and nontaxable earned income. The definition of a qualifying child has been modified, and married taxpayers filing a joint return get some relief from the marriage penalty because the beginning and end points of the phase out range are increased by $1,000.

This is why a 24/7 filibuster won't work. Anyone can just go home and go to bed.

Nope, not true. Enough DemonRats have to stick around so the pubs cannot vote to end debate. Have to have 60% of votes to end debate. More Demons that leave means fewer votes needed to end debate.

BFD. Temporary dividend cut. The feds are slated to spend 28 trillion dollars in the next decade.

This is terrific news. Since we should have between 130 and 150 trillion of GDP assuming mere modest growth rates, this represents government only taking 11% of GDP. Historically, the feds have averaged about 20%.

So the "whores" will have cut the government in half. That's good, right?
