Bush Fans Turn Up the Heat on Disney/Micheal Moore [FR Linked on MSNBC]

Get ready for the Bushies versus Mickey Mouse.

Some stalwart supporters of the President are organizing a boycott of Disney after it was revealed that a subsidary of the company is helping finance Michael Moore's 'Farenheit 9/11,' which is expected to come out in time for the 2004 election and reportedly will show links between the Bush dynasty and Osama Bin Laden.

On Friday, Variety reported Disney's Mirimax would provide funding for the flick after Mel Gibsons Icon Productions dropped the project.

'Financing Michael Moore's 2004 attack film is UNACCEPTABLE, notes a poster (recovering_democrat) on the Conservative web site Free Republic, which gives contact numbers for people to complain to both Mirimax and Disney.

The site also urges boycotts of all Disney products, including Disney World and even ABC.

A source close to Mirimax says the company is undaunted, 'We have weathered storms like this before.'

When asked about the planned boycott by Free Republic.com, the insider said, 'Whoever they are, they are entitled to their opinion.'

May Disney soon feel financial pain. When I tell my kids who love President Bush that their favorite channel is supporting this, there will be a quick change of mind I believe about Disney.

Are we boycotting disney now? That is ok with me as I hope it works as well as our french boycott and doesn't fail like the rush boycott.

Our family visits Florida every winter not only to spend some time with the in-laws, but to get away from the ice and snow for a while. We usually visit at least one of the theme parks, and EPCOT was our choice last February.

Next year will be different. Universal Studios ROCKS and will see our greenbacks instead of the Mouse.

Somebody please oil Walt's rotisserie! I think he's worn it out by now.

No, there's no bias in the media, none at all.
I can't believe the crap that pases for journalism these days.
I don't think anyone is attacking Mickey Mouse.

Agreed. No corporation that seriously deals with the life blood of the bottom-line (profits, stock holders etc.) will long spite themselves to push unpopular themes. They seriously believe that they can still filter the news to the masses and control the agenda.

The popularity and devotion that this president evokes will slap them silly. Like Rush says, they are so seething with HATRED for Bush, they can't think straight. But let the cash flow dry up and they will offer Moore up like the "stuck pig" that he is.

Harvey Weinstein still runs Miramax, doesn't he? If so, don't hold your breath waiting for that FOB to pull his support from Moore.

What about Mickey's right to freedom of speech. Mice should not be descriminated against. Where's PETA. I love Mickey Mouse. I feel we're opening a new quagmire here. Oooops, I forgot, he's a member of the RAT family. Never mind.

On the one hand, Holywood's penchant for bashing, (often with eroneous data), those that get in the way of their counter culture view of America is an abuse of their status in our Society.

On the other hand, their words and deeds show our Society what their core values really are. Apparently, these adults have had these counter culture values for a very long time.

Maybe it is time for a Conservative film industry to take root in America? The location? It should be in the Heartland, in a small town with a great Main Street, say --- Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Tom Sawyer and Becky could be the official greeters in the new amusement park "Heartland World." Branson, Missouri would be the Sister City to the film industry at "The Cape."

The extreme liberal journalism professors at the University of Missouri would be a good topic for a film documentary on those who have trained our journalists and politicians to have sold America down the river for so many decades.

It is time to confront THE IRON TRIANGLE (libs, dems and the media) where it hurts them the most --- in the pocket book.
