It is impossible to know if this is true or not. I hope it is.

One possible motive for this story appearing today is to create the expectation that President Bush will announce the capture of Bin Laden in his speech tonight. Then, when he doesn't, the Left can claim some sort of small victory.

On the other hand, maybe the story is true and President Bush (and the rest of the citizens of the United States) will claim a great victory tonight.

The World Tribune quoting Al Hayat is a little like Bill Clinton quoting Baghdad Bob.

This presents a deep philosophical problem. Since both are allergic to truth, do they cancel each other's lies like a double negative, or can they share a common lie?

Hope springs eternal. But give the story till 1200EDT. If no one else picks it up it's DEBKA-like junk, but if someone else looks into it or mentions it then we may have something. Remember that Bush is speaking today. He may deal with more than Iraq. We can hope.

For crying out loud, read the damn article. The operative word is "may."

"The London-based Al Hayat daily reported on Thursday that the U.S. force might have also captured Bin Laden. The newspaper quoted Pakistani military sources as saying that Bin Laden could have been one of the Al Qaida leaders seized by the United States."

They also "may" have captured Ru Paul in Pakistan. But they didn't. OBL has been dead for a year.

I knew a nuf' Gnome Chomsky reading , "Nothing bad ever happened without the USA having a hand in it", aquaintances in college to be able to predict exactly what they are going to say. The capture of Binny was delayed till after the Iraq war in order for the U.S to not loose a lot of it's justification for fighting the war, mainly Iraq's links to Al Qaida and giving them WMD.

Am I the only one who still believes that OBL is pushing up daisies somewhere in the vicinity of Tora Bora?

Might, may have been, undisclosed sources, unidentified administration members, secret witness, alien from UFO's and other word tricks are used to cover the BS in the waste of news print like this one.

Reminds me of the Quagmire, the stand down and how we lost the Iraqi War.

I'd be happy if we capture someone we know is alive-- Mullah Omar, who is living it up in the home of some wealthy pro-terrorist Pakistani.

A State Department report, entitled "Patterns of Global Terrorism 2002," said terrorist attacks around the world declined from 355 in 2001 to 199 in 2002, a drop of 44 percent.

Of course they did not include Israel in "the world" as there were over 3000 attacks last year alone. Yep, State Department has an agenda...

As are news sources with the word "Al" in them.

The most reasonable response is to discount this report. It's a secret too big to be bottled up and only reported by one source.

Then again, the Lisa Marie Presley - Michael Jackson Carribean wedding started out with this just this kind of report.
