ROY, UTAH -- In the cold months, the tattoos of white supremacy are concealed beneath layers of clothing, but the ex-convicts and parolees who wear them are becoming known by their faces.

Law enforcement officials in Roy and other towns in northern Utah say they are grappling with a marked increase in crimes committed by men who joined white supremacist gangs while in prison and who, once released and bound by ideology and kinship, have settled in the area to pursue lives of crime. "They're connecting with people of like mind," said Greg Whinham, the police chief in Roy, an Ogden suburb of 35,000 residents between the Wasatch Mountains and the Great Salt Lake. "The mentality of white supremacy is rampant in the prison system, and now we're seeing it in the streets."

IMO, these groups are a natural outgrowth of policies that actively discriminate against white males. These policies lend creedence to these mens' not-altogether-false perception that our society discriminates against people who look like them and wants to keep them down.

Although I find their politics and beliefs repugnant, I can't help but acknowlege that absent so-called "affirmative action" and other rascist policies that promote and hire people based on skin color rather than ability, pathologic groups such as these would probably fail to exist.

to add to that Henrietta, is that I heard that when a white guy goes to prison he basically has to join a gang of white men for protection from predators of various races, colors....

the violence in prisons is the problem

as long as there is so little control of sexual assaults, drugs, etc in prisons, then we will always have the gangs, and white men will be in white gangs, and blacks in black gangs etc....

Take a look at the numbers involved in this "influx" to get an idea of how much of a problem this really is.

"Since that time, Draper said, about 65 parolees identified as white supremacists have been arrested in the area..."

"...The task force is tracking 130 known white supremacists in Weber County, and others have not been identified, Draper said."

Less than 200 people represents an "influx." Only 65 who have been "identified" have been arrested. As usual, Liberal Media goes out of its way to create the impression that there's a crisis, that something must be done, that a small group of idiot skinheads is a real threat to society.

Of course they don't have informed opinions. These policies (and of course they KNOW about these policies) just give their hatred for others an excuse to fester. What's more, white men are targetted in prison for rape, and they are vulnerable partially because white culture is fairly individualist; we don't run in packs. If you want protection, you have to be part of a group. Blacks group automatically just about anywhere because they feel outnumbered (not unreasonably) and Latinos are pretty group-y too. Whites don't really group... unless they are White Supremists.

Because "white privilege" never really extended to the poor, and the poor is where you find these folks, by and large. There or in the South, where they felt victimized after the Civil War. (JMHO)

Most of these men aren't exactly swimming in the deep end of the gene pool to begin with.

They are looking for somebody to blame all of their problems on. The biggest problem here is people aren't taking responsibility for their own actions. They get in prison and hear "this group or that group is responsible for you being here" and that's complete and utter bs. These people put themselves there, it's their own fault.

Look at fascists/dictatorships, and to an extent liberals these days, they take people who are not the brightest, and they get them to blame their problems on another group of people (say slave reparations, affirmitive action, etc.), and before they know it, they have a little power. They believe that somebody "owes them" so to speak. I'm not sure where I was going with this, but it made sense when I started typing :-)
