AL QAEDA TARGETS CANNES!
Bin Laden's evil goons take aim at world famous filmfest
OSAMA: "The threat's for real," says a security expert. Osama Bin Laden and his evil allies have targeted the star-studded Cannes Film Festival for a blood-drenched act of terrorism.
That's the chilling news from intelligence sources, who warn that Al Qaeda plans to take revenge for the war in Iraq with a murderous attack on the famed movie festival in France next month.
Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas, Meg Ryan, Penelope Cruz and many others could all be at risk if they stick to plans to attend the event, which will play out before 4,000 journalists and television reporters.
"This threat's real," disclosed a well-connected security expert. "Any movie star going to Cannes could be heading for the terror front line. In the current climate they're a lot safer staying home. Is plugging a new movie worth your life?"
Penelope Cruz's new movie "Fanfan la Tulipe" will open the festival on May 14, and the actress --very likely accompanied by boyfriend Tom Cruise -- has made plans to be there for the launch. Meg Ryan was scheduled to introduce her new film at Cannes and Oscar-winner Catherine Zeta-Jones and husband Michael Douglas were also penciled in for appearances at the world-famous movie festival.
But now that the FBI has been tipped off about the terror plot -- which was discovered by French undercover cops monitoring a group loyal to Bin Laden and Al Qaeda -- many celebrities may rethink their plans to attend.
According to intelligence operatives, fanatical terrorists from North Africa have blended into the huge Algerian community in the port city of Marseille -- on the French coast not far from Cannes.
"They belong to the Armed Islamic Group, or GIA, which has been responsible for many terrorist outrages in France," said the security source. "They hijacked an Air France plane and they've been responsible for 11 atrocities in France -- including three bomb attacks on the Paris subway which left eight dead and 200 wounded.
"French authorities are very worried by the link between Bin Laden and Algerian terrorists. They believe these fanatics were trained with chemical and biological weapons at Al Qaeda camps.
"One of the suspects is Abu Musab Zarqawi, a top terror leader who has operated in Iraq with the help of Saddam Hussein.
"And French authorities believe there's a link between GIA and the deadly poison ricin, discovered recently in a luggage locker at the Gare de Lyon railway station in Paris.
"They think it was headed south to Bin Laden's supporters in Marseille."

I mean, terrorism is a bad thing, but I can't imagine many targets I would get choked up about less.

Kinda mixed feelings on this one. I guess the responsible way to think about it is that I hope the Frenchies DON'T reap the whirlwind, but I feel before the decade is out they're gonna get hit hard. Quite hard.

Why would al Qaeda be so foolish as to turn on its best friends?

What a tragedy if Penelope Cruz' movie "Fan Fan LaTulipe" has its premiere delayed by terrorism. (/sarcasm)

I can't imagine many targets I would get choked up about less.In Katharine Graham's autobiography, she tells a story about LBJ during the Washington, D.C. riots. She was in the command center with him. A report came in that Stokely Carmichael just announced he was going to burn down Georgetown.
Johnson said, "G-d damn, I've waited 30 years to hear that!"

Agreed. If only this were a real possibility. It has to be a joke. Reminds me of 9-11 when the U.N. Building was evacuated and my first thought was, "Why>"

Maybe they're mad because they can't get tickets. For those who don't know Cannes is an industry only affair. No public tickets are sold.

"I hope the Frenchies DON'T reap the whirlwind, but I feel before the decade is out they're gonna get hit hard." I've been wracking my brain trying to recall a terrorist attack in France since, well, the days of the FLN.
While the rest of Europe (and, now, America) has been an active theater for Middle East terrorists, it is as if France was some kind of "safe house"...

It's not foolish, it's deliberate. And it's absolutely true to form where Islamic terrorists are concerned.
By directing terror at those sympathetic to your cause you force them away from the middle ground and make them take sides with or against you. The goal is to precipitate a fight to the death that your own followers cannot escape. Polarization, in other words. Terrorists are in the polarization business. When their terrorism triggers a violent response they see this as the reward for their hard work.
It's a nutty approach to conflict, but this is how they think.

Cannes? Well, if OBL and his al-Queda want to take out some of those leftist liberals, no peep from my direction. However, that's pretty far-fetched thinking since the leftists Hollyweirdos want OBL and Saddam Hussein to stay in power. What the bottom line in this story is that the Hollyweirdos want the general public to feel sorry for them, and I just can't muster up any sympathy. They've got more money than they know what to do--hire extra bodyguards.

There's always the possibility that Bin Laden is targeting the film festival because they might show
Osama's LAST video. (The quote at the end is GREAT!)

Sounds like the French may have a real problem. If they screw this up, watch for the Hollywood lawyers to finish them off.
