NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Reuters Group Plc has launched the search for a new chairman to succeed Christopher Hogg, who has spent 18 years at the helm of the electronic information group, The Financial Times reported on its Web site late Friday.

The company is understood to have appointed international headhunters to find a replacement for Hogg in the coming months, FT.com said.

Reuters' longest-serving board member, who is also chairman of GlaxoSmithKline Plc , is expected to tell shareholders next week that a succession process is under way.

"Sir Christopher is ready to indicate that he would like to step down once a replacement is agreed," according to one person familiar with the situation, The Financial Times said. "It is an orderly process and the search has begun."

Details of the succession-planning are expected at next week's annual meeting, when the board is likely to face criticism over falling profits and a sharp decline in Reuters' share price, FT.com reported.

Sounds good let the Pro Isamofacist/Kazi stock of Reuters crash even more. Then Murdock can buy them cheap and fire every Islamofacist working for them.

I vote for Bill Clinton or Phil Donohue. Reuters has recently reported some moderate views (gasp)and then need to have someone in charge who'll keep 'em true to the left.

These 'international headhunters' are going to be busy what with CNN about to start their executive search.

In the past, such practices have been pretty much limited to the Amazon. I guess Reuters must be branching out in the name of multiculturalism. ;-)

Hmmm....wonder if we're going to see more revelations along the lines of CNN's recent "confessions" from Eason.

Excellent observation, although the DJ report tends to tie it to the bottom line.

Just heard a sensible caller on CSPAN....just moments ago......he said the callers who were bashing Bush sounded a lot like Baghdad's Minister of Information........
