[history]
Listen. Listen closely. What do you hear? Do you hear silence? Is there an undeniable silence that is filling the air today?
Today, April 9th, 2003, is the seventh annual National Day of Silence. This is a day when people, traditionally students, that support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) folks vow to be silent for nine hours. This silence is a way to mimic the silence that has been forced upon LGBT people for years through harassment, prejudice, and discrimination.

Why not 365 days of silence? That would REALLY show us!
I note that the author is no mere journalist or college student, but the education coordinator at the Center for Crime Victim and Sexual Assault Services of Tompkins County, meaning she will be silent on taxpayer dollars.
Ithaca is the City of Evil.

"What will you do to end the silence?"
Speak out loud and clear and tell you to shut up. How's that? Whining fools. No one cares how you get your sexual jollies. You are the ones making it an issue. You can get off rolling your crap into little balls for all I care...but do not demand that I shake your hand. You are despicable pervs and don't want to be told that you are. Just a case of having cake and eating it too. But no one is supposed to say a word, lawd, lawd. Yeah right..I will. And will continue to do so.
The only rights you have are the right to be citizens. You do not get "rights" for anything else.

perhaps we could get this extended to other issues I don't care about...what about silence on the "selected not elected" president? What about "Republican budget cuts that put children at risk"? and so many more. How about nine hours of silence from Michael Moore or Martin Sheen? That is what I would call....a good start.

This silence is a way to mimic the silence that has been forced upon LGBT people for years through harassment, prejudice, and discrimination.Sorry, but it's been quite some time since the "love that dared not speak its name" became the love that would not shut the f*** up..

This drew a lot of media coverage, therefore proving that this first event was a success. By that standard, Saddam was a success too.
Oh, to be a liberal and not be constrained by logic and reality! Sigh.
But then, why exist if you're not going to have an honest life?

Oh, puh-LEEZ. I lived in Ithaca for years. Lesbians and gays
own the place.
Actually, I just might return and help take it back.
