U.S. forces - tipped off that Saddam Hussein and his sons were huddled in a bunker beneath a tony Baghdad restaurant plotting their escape - bombed the site into oblivion yesterday, military sources said.

The Iraqi dictator was spotted entering the building at 1 p.m. Baghdad time. The site was leveled in the "decapitation strike" an hour later by four megapowerful bunker-buster bombs dropped by a single B-1 bomber.

Although i'd like to believe that swine is dead along with his sons; i believe it was either a body double, or he escaped without being noticed.

I don't like the sound of the line about the area being rife with tunnels. Saddam would be quite secure if he could enter a building and in a matter of minutes be at another site in any given direction, via tunnels. He is a lot of things, but unfortunately, stupid is not one of them.

Assuming of course that he survived the first attack or is not already comfortably living in a dasha in Russia or chalet in Switzerland.
