***ATTN: RALLY ORGANIZERS!***
FRN ^ | 3/31/03 | Diotima

Posted on 03/31/2003 6:53:12 AM PST by diotima

Every two weeks, the FR chapter leaders meet in a voice conference.

Tonight at 6pm Pacific, we are having our meeting and I would like to invite anyone who was involved in organizing a rally to attend. We will be discussing future plans for national rallies, who we are partnering with, strategy and review to date the events that have taken place. Also a few things I won't write about in public.

If you are interested in attending, please freepmail me and I will give you instructions on how to attend.

I got a thank you note from Glenn Beck the other day. That was a nice surprise.

I was considering starting a thread about this subject, but maybe it would be better to plant the seed here. I hope this is an idea you think could be constructively disscussed.

Something I've been thinking about that doesn't seem to be given much relevance lately. The connotation of a “Rally” does not always reflect the values of the conservative movement. Some people hear the word “Rally” and think of angry people standing on the side of the road waving signs and holding up traffic, especially here in South Florida, where politics are so often divisive and irrational.

This is not meant as an insult to the Patriots that defend our Constitution by participating in such rallies, sometimes there are no other choices in location. Personally I enjoy playing in traffic and waving our Flag and such rallies are great tools in the absence of large numbers and organizational support.

If the location allows and there happens to be a public park or large unused parking lot near the event. I was thinking that a more positive approach to gathering support would be to hold social events. I think conservatives would be more receptive to attending an "Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social" to support our Troops and their families, than a street rally. I feel such events could better represent American values and create a more diverse representation of the community, it may also help groups trapped in Multicultural Socialism assimilate to American Society.

This approach might help strengthen our Constitution, in that it advocates the principle of gathering the community to define their concerns and pass them up the ladder of government. I believe this is the way the Republic is supposed to work. This would also help distinguish a significant difference between the Patriots and the Anti-American Protesters whose tactics disrupt and divide our communities.

I understand their may be complications in getting permission to use such properties, but I think the rewards could make it worth the extra effort. Business owners might be more receptive about allowing their property to be used for such social events rather than a Street Rally, which can create the image of an angry mob, in their mind.

If you think there is validity in this suggestion, I hope you will discuss it amongst other like minded people who are promoting events during this urgent time in our Nations history.

Sincerely Matthew

I have a death in the family, have to go to a wake 2 hours away!

My advice to novices: Keep it small, work through veterans groups or radio stations. Also, call your city, I am working now with my Mayor for a town sponsored one, should be a winner!

Nothing wrong with making the rally into a picnic/ice cream social/prayer service, etc. The idea is "just do it."

Planning helps (and FRN has some good organization tips and media aids that you can use to make it easier), but the most important things are to pick a date, get a central, easy to find, visable location, invite everyone you know and have a good time. The more the merrier, but if it doesn't happen the greatest plans are mute.

I was going to suggest to RABID with Ventura County Chapter the picnic idea. I have a nephew who I am not really close to in the war right now, so I am sort of objective. What I see at our rallies are the tremendous amount of family members needing to be with one another right now...they seem to draw strength from one another.

FYI, I now have photos from over 70 pro-Troop rallies (2-15 photos each) just since March 1st. I've decided to work with a local multimedia producer to build on YOUR concept and my ultimate vision of that wonderful idea. I will front the cost for the master CD/DVD/Web streaming until we can do a fundraiser. Mass replication will be additional costs, but less than I estimated according to a Freeper.

I probably won't be downloading the future events so I can concentrate on developing "With Love & Appreciation" (final title). If you know of someone who can save those photos, please ask them. From March alone, we have enough to make a part 1 & 2 and probably part 3.
