According to a report that was just aired on our local FM Conservative Talk Radio station, WTTK in Boston, a Peace/Anti-War rally was planned for Government Center in Boston for today.
There has been much publicity surrounding the organization and planning of this rally in the past few weeks. There were expectations for as many as 50,000 people from all over New England to be there to descend upon Boston to demonstrate against the war in Iraq.
According to the latest report on WTTK, the estimated count thus far at this rally is approximately 500 people.
Ooops. I guess peaceniks suffer from the same affliction as the organizers of the "Million Man March".

Who needs to be able to count when you're marching in righteous defense of poor defenseless Iraqi babies? It's much more important that we recapture the glories of the late 60s and early 70s than to actually make any sense ...??!!

"Hey, Jim, do you know why protesters always carry a heaping bucket of week-old bear manure to ever anti-war rally?"
"No, Bones, why do they?"
"It keeps the flies off the reporters from CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC!"
Bada Bing!
Want a break from war news? Go to Stark Trek for a laugh or two. Then come back refreshed and loaded for bear whether he goes in the woods or not!

" There were expectations for as many as 50,000 "
Here in San Francisco they published that 200,000 were present at a demonstration. Aerial photos proved that there were only 60,000. The 200k figure was publicized by every major news outlet.
Not one retraction was made. So we now know that the media is interested in the truth only when it suits their purposes.
Side note - if this anti-war reporting is so far off imagine how bad the actual war reporting is!!

I am a fellow WTTK 96.9 FMTalk listener! We have Don Imus, Mike Barnacle (not bad for a leftie--he likes Bush and is on board with the War on Terrorism), Bill O'Reilly, Jay Severin, and Laura Ingraham. There are two annoying lefties on from noon until 1PM (1 hour, LOL) but otherwise 96.9 is pretty awesome!
I am so glad to hear the Boston rally was a flop. There is also a Support Our Troops rally in Mashpea, Mass. that made it on FOXNEWS!!!

I was just looking for news on this. Do you have any idea when it was supposed to start and how long it would go?

That's the overhead picture of what the organizers claimed was the Million Mom March.
Anybody who has ever been to the July 4th fireworks on the Mall knows that's nowhere NEAR a million people.

The left is
claiming 250,000 participated in a recent anti-war event in NYC. News reports I read said the figure was closer to 100,000.

I don't have any other info on it other than it is at The Boston Common, not Government Center.
Oh and I screwed up. It's WTKK-FM 96.9 in Boston. Not WTTK.

I heard Margery Egan and Jim Broudie claiming there would be 20,000 to 50,000 there. Of course, they were claining that as they were yearning for Tony Blair to be their President instead of W.
I know, I shouldn't listen but sometimes there's is the only station I get in my travels aroud NE.

I had heard the protestors would form on Boston Common and march up Boylston to Copley and have a die-in there on Boylston Street.
NECN cable news looks like they're running paid programming and the local TV news sites I checked don't seem to be covering it. Though I'm curious, it's probably good they're not covering it. It's just that I saw them setting up on the Common on an earlier news broadcast. They looked like characters from a Fellini film, so I was hoping for some more entertainment.
