War with Iraq -- Going it alone
Going it alonePresident Bush has determined to go it alone against Iraq. At this point, we can only hope and pray that he is doing the right thing.
By The Capital-Journal editorial board
President Bush has declared that diplomacy has come to an end, so war with Iraq is just days, maybe even hours, away.
As he promised, Bush has decided that the United States will go it alone, without U.N. approval, which obviously was not going to happen. Only Great Britain and Spain support the U.S. mission.
Anyone who has listened to Bush for the last year cannot be surprised at the move. In addition to his verbal threats, he has moved 250,000 U.S. troops to the borders of Iraq. There are roughly 1,000 combat aircraft and a naval fleet in place in the Persian Gulf region as well, all ready to go when given the command.
Now all we can hope for is that those who say it will be a quick war know what they are saying.
According to a CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll, the American public supports military action against Iraq to remove Saddam Hussein from power by a 2-1 margin. That is a slight increase from recent weeks.
Americans tend to rally round their president in times of trouble, and, while many might question his policy, they support the military forces who are on the frontline and in the line of danger.
Support from around the world isn't happening, however, and that bodes trouble down the line. Besides reparations for Iraq, the United States will have lots of diplomatic bridges to rebuild after the war.
Bush repeatedly has stressed the danger Saddam Hussein poses not just to the United States but to the world. However, removing him from power in a first-strike war could unleash even more terrorist attacks from other areas.
Many Americans are understandably uneasy about the world's greatest power launching an unprovoked attack, being the aggressor rather than the defender. No doubt that is a big concern of nations around the world, including many that supported the first Gulf War.
President Bush must be aware of that, but considers the end worth the risks. We hope and pray he is right.

Only Great Britain and Spain support the U.S. mission.According to Fox News the current count is 45 countries in the coalition, not including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan. Even though this is only an editorial, shouldn't the Axis if Idiots at least check their facts.

I heard 60 nations supported this action, the French even today said that if Saddam uses the WMD they'll be in. Just more anti-American crap here.

Only Great Britain and Spain support the U.S. mission. I guess they don't count the non-western 'ethnics'.

Seeing as America is going it alone,i suppose the British and Australian troops in Iraq are actually fighting for Saddam.

Only Great Britain and Spain support the U.S. mission. So the left has advanced from propaganda to outright lies.

Carl Cameron just reported on FNC that this is the third largest international coalition in the last one hundred years.

Here's a list I've put together from a few articles I've read. I can't vouch 100% for it, but I don't see anybody on here that has said they DON'T support us.
These are the countries that support the US in our efforts against Saddam Hussain. They are providing everything from moral support to troops to special units to staging bases to air space.
Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Columbia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Marshall Islands, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan.

The email link is right below the article. It is our only hope for a better local paper if they feel a bit of pressure from the FR community. They are most certainly going to hear from me.

Howdy
The USA and the entire planet, excepting a shabby collection of three or four nations who are up to their eye teeth in collaboration with the bloody beast of Baghdad.
Oh, how lonesome, how isolated we are under President Bush.... ???
The violence against truth and reason purpetrated by the diseased minds of propaganda addicts is powerless to persuade objective minds in an era of free access to objectivity and fact.
The continuing attempts to prime the ruined old leftist media propaganda pump are now as pathetic as they are evil.
It is over for the left, no longer are a few corrupt minds in control of the flow of information.
That they still try is merely a clown act. Let's ask if they are willing to give their big red noses a squeeze for the kids!
Honk honk!

That looks like the same list I have seen. Yet apparently, it is still a 'unilateral' action.

Going it alone with the largest coalition in the history of the world. I guess that's like what the meaning of "is" is.

Much like the rest of the country we have highly-reliable Internet access in Kansas, and highly-leftist newspaper editorial boards.
