The Globalization Bugaboo

Thomas P.M Barnett of the US Naval War College believes that wherever "globalization is thinning or just plain absent" you will find "regions plagued by politically repressive regimes, widespread poverty and disease, routine mass murder, and the seeds of terror." (1)

Widespread proliferation, terror, mass murder, poverty and disease adversely effect the ability of the United States to survive because the nuclear-armed barbarians of terror and rogue nations will be storming the gate. The engagement or battle for Iraq and the National Security Strategy (2) speak to this issue and provide a framework for a large campaign.

The Swiss Confederation

Way back in 1930 the great European powers authorized the Government of the Swiss Confederation to establish a Bank for International Settlements (BIS)(3) Today this bank keeps the major and emerging nations of the world glued together in a common framework of exchange and trade. Like a great religion its priests of finance council governments and the economic world to a higher interest which is the right of capital accumulation and allocation. A war seams to have impeded the process of globalization or could it be the other way around?

Barbarian or Technical Engineers

The first battle target in the larger US campaign were the terrorists. A group of wealthy and highly educated elite, using religion for political purposes, formed a decentralized fascist terror movement using religion as a tool. Was it a big surprise to find that both OBL and the recently captured number two man Khalid Shaikh Mohammed are technical engineers?

It also must be no surprise that the main financiers of terror are the highly educated Saudi Royal family. "Power is the great aphrodisiac" holds true. (Kissinger)

Protesting the Irrefutable

Money does not discriminate between races and religions therefore it can be called "the great equalizer" because it allocates to ability and accumulates to privilege. It does not care how you dress, what you look like, where you live, or what religion you belong to. You will find these facts to be irrefutable.

The motivation for protest against globalization has traction because the social blindness of allocating capital to the points of the world that can provide the highest return tends to be a painful process. When the bullets or asymmetric attacks start to fly the protest movement against this issue will subside because that ultimate process of war to determine a result will inflict even more pain.

The movements of Political Princes and Financial Priests

AT the same time that Dominique De Villepin was lambasting the United States in the UN, Alan Greenspan happened to be in France in a BIS meeting to discuss whether or not "Global Finance is Slowing." (4) He stated that "at some point globalization undoubtedly will reach maturity." From his perspective the path to unified economies are inevitable. The world that we see in the news media (news entertainment media) differs greatly from the way the world actually works.

Alas, The Coffers are Dry

If you care to find out how the world works you will find that not only are the barbarians at the gate but the treasury has limited physical reserves and the books are cooked. Lets face it the system was slowing down on its own before this war.

Expectations regarding technology were irrationally optimistic which caused spending to occur on borrowed money to unproductive enterprises. The one rule of a global system is that money must find a return. Money in the form of capital must make more money, production, and wealth.

We are entering a time period where money will move around the world to safety rather than to the level of highest return. In wartime this will always be the case.

The process of war will also adjust, or make irrelevant, pervasive problems in the system such as ballooning government debt, or accounting problems such as the proper risk reporting of $128 trillion dollars of derivatives which nobody really controls and few understand.

The system needs to be oiled

The economic system needs to be oiled with core commodities such as food, minerals, and energy. The world has plenty of oil, tons of it, North America has more than Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately American oil in the form of bitumen sand is presently cost ineffective to extract. Globalization will always allocate based on the financial return generated. War justifies the use of less efficient supply sources and it leads to innovation in that regard.

Security Structure

The security structure of the United States requires that "nations of failure" adjust to the wider interest by nation change so that they become part of the larger system. Therefore this world war may extend not only to places such as the Middle East, Korea, but also to countries such as Venezuela.

Objectives of a Lengthy and Comprehensive Campaign

America has now embarked in a wide and lengthy campaign, using all the methods and resources at its disposal, primarily for domestic security and secondarily to offset eroding economic conditions.

A lack of political capital to communicate to a weak society has caused the scope and definition of the war, its costs, implications, and time frames to be underestimated.

Coincidentally the tertiary victory condition for the war will be economic globalization. Success will culminate in the formation of a secular renaissance and failure will result in a religious Dark Age.
