Rural Strategies ^

For those of you who would like more info on CBS proposed Real Beverly Hillbillies click on the link to Rural Strategies.

I've already been in contact with these folks and they are really up against it. However, they are doing a pretty good job of gettin the word out and fighting back.

Please take a look at the site and help out the folks who live in Bush country.

I've already been in contact with these people and I think we owe them a measure of support. Afterall they are really trying to represent you and me.

If CBS gets their way this show will stigmatize most of the people who voted for Bush. If CBS can dehumanize us with vicious cultural sterotypes then no one will ever again take anything seroiusly that people in fly over country have to say.

I've already written a nice letter to CBS and so have alot of others and the pressure is starting to show.

A very nice Freep is in order and I'm hoping all yall,(which is plural for yall) can lend a hand.

Greatfully

You do realize that all protests like this do is give the show free publicity, don't you?

The only way I've heard about this show (and I've heard about it a LOT the last month or so) is in regard to protests.

You mean like all the free publicity that Bush is getting or all the free publicity that the Anti war bunch are getting? One thing is for sure, if we don't make any noise at all CBS will definitely go ahead and do the show.

As far as I'm concerned I'd rather do something about it than sit on my hands.

Not to sound flip, but reguarding this show, how would you convince CBS not to air it? I'm always open to a few good ideas.

These so called "Hillbillies" represent the red part of the country that voted for Bush (see Rush's election map breakdown by county).

Sadly it is politically correct to ridicule these God fearing people who are mostly Southern and very blue-collar.

If there were to be a catistrophic terrorist attack on America, God forbid, these "Hillbillies" would probably be the only people who would survive.

How come every race and culture in our country, excluding those having to do with European (male) blood and heritage are off limits to ridicule and directed humor?
My first ancestor was in KY 8 years before Daniel Boone and the other side of the family was there hundreds of years before that.
Both sides are telling me to p##s on CBS. The nerve of that bunch of liberals to go in and make fun of a culture that was forged with powder, lead, steel, courage, and blood and then mostly destroyed by the Great Society! I wonder if CBS will reveal the fact that these mountain people have volunteered far in excess of their relative population numbers for military service in any war that this country has ever had?

Aren't two of media's favorite persons from the rural south, Jimmy Carter and Al Gore(his background is fake)?

Actually I was interested to hear where HK had heard of the show. I know most of the details surrounding the controversy however it's important for me to know where people are hearing these things from.

Thanks for the help anyway, every little bit is much appreciated.
