LOS ANGELES, Feb 19 (AFP) - Hollywood stars Wednesday opened a new front in their battle to derail US plans for a war with Iraq, unveiling plans to flood the White House and lawmakers with antiwar phone calls, e-mails and faxes.
A group of stars led by Martin Sheen -- who plays the US president on the television show "The West Wing" -- and actresses Anjelica Huston and Janeane Garofalo said they would stage a "virtual march" Monday on Washington.
"Our message to Washington will be clear -- 'Don't invade Iraq!' We can contain Saddam Hussein without killing innocent people, diverting us from the war on terrorism and putting us all at risk," Sheen said here.
Organizers of the latest antiwar protest will bombard the White House and every member of the US Senate with calls, faxes and e-mails in a bid to keep their lines and computers jammed between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
And in a television advertising campaign, they are calling on the public to join in the assault on the US leadership.
The stars said the virtual march was intended as a follow up to Saturday's global protests against Washington's plans to attack Saddam and his suspected weapons of mass destruction.
"I speak out with the loud voice of my conscience," said Huston, the star of "The Addams Family" and last year's "The Royal Tenenbaums."
"Write to your congressman. Share your opinions. Ask questions."
"Our leaders in Washington are out of step with millions of Americans," said Garofalo. "This is clearly a time when we must join together and lead Washington back to its senses.
"The virtual march on Washington is an opportunity to do just that," added the actress, who starred in such films as last year's "Big Trouble" and "The Laramie Project."
Plans for the virtual march were unveiled at news conferences in Los Angeles and Washington by the "Win without war" movement.
Other supporters of the action include actors James Cromwell and Mike Farrell, who form part of a growing number of Tinseltown stars opposed to the Iraq policy of President George W. Bush.
Some 30,000 people turned out in Hollywood Saturday for a major march against the looming conflict, a protest timed to coincide with other huge marches in cities such as New York, London, Madrid, Berlin and Paris.
Other luminaries who have come out against a war with Iraq include directors Oliver Stone, Robert Altman, actresses Jane Fonda, Barbra Streisand, Susan Sarandon and Madonna and actors Robert Redford and Sean Penn.

Can't we bombard them?? You can't send Barb Streis an email. The elite insulate themselves from the commoners. Let them eat cake!!
I would love to clog up their websites.

Mr. Rohrabacher and I are pretty much on the same page. Now my Senators are a different story, but they couldn't care less what I think.

"Sheen is confused 'cause he has been PLAYING POTUS."
One can only hope that somewhere out there a conversation like this is being held...
CAPTAIN WILLARD: "Terminate...his command?"
CIA GUY: "With extreme prejudice."

"Our leaders in Washington are out of step with millions of Americans," said Garofalo. "This is clearly a time when we must join together and lead Washington back to its senses. Janeane, you're absolutely right. I agree with you 100%. Just one small problem. The OTHER "millions of Americans" agree with President Bush. The polls clearly show this.
Anybody besides me getting damned tired of these wackos pretending they're something they're not. Like, intelligent?

Boy! This is going to be REAL effective. Isn't this like members of the Comintern flooding a Reagan Whitehouse with protest mail?
Bet Dubya loses sleep over this, NOT!

The White House staff will be able to distinguish the Hollywood mail by the misspellings and coke stains.

Lets see we are at war
Hollywood is at war with our commander and chief
That makes Hollywood the enemy..
Sheen and his ilk should be brought up on sedition charges imo
Trying to disrupt White House Communications during war time is treason
or at the very least a malicious criminal act
You voted you lost now be a part of the loyal opposition...
