Arafat aide praises Ramon as 'courageous'
By LAMIA LAHOUD
The Palestinian Authority praised Israeli astronaut Col. Ilan Ramon on Saturday as "a courageous man" and offered condolences to his family.
The condolences were conveyed in a statement issued by Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat.
In a separate interview with The Jerusalem Post, Bassam Abu-Sharif, an adviser to Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat, called the disaster "very sad."
He went on to describe Ramon as "a courageous man who dedicated his life for the prosperity of mankind."
"Anyone who dedicates his life for better life for human beings is dedicated to peace," Abu-Sharif added.
Abu-Sharif noted the personal tragedy suffered by the astronauts' families, who came so close to seeing their loved ones return from space.
But, in addition, he noted the "great setback" for science.

Arafat does not want any of his people dancing in the street in celebration. Unlike Saddam, he is not suicidal (though his minions may be encouraged to suicide-bomb). He probably figures that war with Iraq is coming and he is trying to avoid getting on Uncle Sam's s**t list.

What does Arafat know about courage, science, peace, space travel, or even condolences?
This man is acting quite desperate....seems he is feeling quite inadequate and irrelevant these days.

Arafat knows that if he did anything other than offer condolences, he'd be shot back to the stoneage.
Semi-smart man.
Too much to hope that he'll figure the rest of it out..

Ever since my cable company began carrying Fox News (5-6 weeks ago) in brooklyn,I refuse to tune to CNN. It makes me shudder to even think about it.

Arafat does not want any of his people dancing in the street in celebration.
IF (and, probably 'when') it happens, our media - including FOX - will make the editorial decision to avoid anything "inflammatory".....we'll never see it, we'll never know about it. It won't have happened.....

Arafat does not want any of his people dancing in the street in celebration. Maybe not but as a "head of state" he really hasn't done a good job of imposing his will now has he?

Want to be even sicker of CNN? I was watching it for a few minutes and on the ticker I noticed they quoted what former president <"BJ") Clinton said about the disaster. I was soo sickened by it.

Arafat aide praises Ramon as 'courageous' Don't they the same thing about suicide bombers? I hope Israel flattens every Pali town that celebrates.
