MATTHEWS: Tom DeLay of Texas. Thanks for joining us. Right now, let me go over to one of our panelists who hasnt had a chance yet. You yielded to Pat Caddell a moment ago. Let me ask you what you think. How does the president-I will go back to the main point of tonights discussion. How does president convince you and other people who think, of like mind, that this is going to be a good-a good war? In other words, a necessary war. I think theyre the same. How does he make that case to you?
BRAZILE: I think its-Well, I dont think it takes lot-it doesnt take a rocket scientist and it clearly doesnt take a form of pest control man...
MATTHEWS: OK...
BRAZILE: ... like Tom DeLay, who believes that Republicans have the answer because they control the majority now in Congress. I think it takes coalition. It takes allies. I mean, we have the might, but my grandmother used to say might doesnt make it right. But we also need support. We need allies. This is going to be a huge endeavor to try to dispose and disarm Saddam.
MATTHEWS: But you know, in all fairness, Donna, since you took a shot at a man who was trying to earn a living as a pest controller-he succeeded as a pest controller. (LAUGHTER)
BRAZILE: Absolutely.
MATTHEWS: You failed as a campaign manager. BRAZILE: He succeeded... (CROSSTALK)
MATTHEWS: I mean, theres a difference between being successful and...
BRAZILE: Absolutely.
MATTHEWS: Anybody who works-to work is to pray, I believe. Never make fun of someones occupation, Donna.
BRAZILE: I made fun of his occupation...
MATTHEWS: You shouldnt do that.
BRAZILE: ... and I will do it again.
MATTHEWS: I dont think you should. Howard, lets talk about this...

No, he was just doing the right thing and sticking up for working people in the face of Brazile's nastiness. Fineman was shocked as well.

I saw it! Unfortunatly it was just Matthews setting his bona fides for the unsuspecting viewer. He is a liberal thru and thru. It is his M.O. After establishing(to the unsuspecting viewer) that he was unbiased, the rest of his show was a Bush bash festival. In fact it was down right sickening. What he did to Frank Lutz and his focus group, was beyond the pale. I, as I have stated on other posts, will never watch him again.

BRAZILE: ... I think it takes coalition. It takes allies. And, obviously, Donna, America can't count on the Democrats to be among its allies...

Matthews: And what do you do for a profession Mz. Brazille?
Brazille: I'm a terminally nasty liar. I sell my services to Democrats to articulate their one-note Anti-Bush, Anti-American viewpoint. If it weren't for the Democrats, I'd be just another welfare mother.

Even if he was Freeper's side on every issue (i.e., detesting the x42s, against baby murder, for an armed society, for small gummint, etc.) he STILL would be the most annoying host on the air.

Matthews is a hard nut to crack, he is a lose cannon, runs his mouth without getting his brain in gear, or does he really believe what he spews? Does he just like to antagonize.

DeLay could not have been so good at his former job since Brazile is not on her back kicking around her 6 spindly legs while inhaling poison.
Pest control is pest control.

I made fun of his occupation...and I will do it again. This is yet another stellar example of that heartfelt concern for the unwashed masses the party of Clinton professes to have. I'm sure Donna has a couple of real kneeslappers about amputees and blind people that she likes to tell after a few drinks at one of Terry Mac's RAT cock tail parties.

His ratings were good during the impeachment fiasco, because he was against clinton. (and Fox was just developing) He was rewarded with a ten year contract. He and Donohue are competeing for the basement.

i saw that, whew! what an undercurrent.

I remember, two years back, when Daschle tried to make fun of people who believed in the Missile Defense program. He held a press conference in which he wanted to say they were idiots. He only ended up making himself look like a (babbling) idiot.
Here are his exact words:
Whether or not we want to violate the ABM treaty
especially with a concept that we may not know
...or...
that we do know now does not work
is something that also mystifies me.
I mean
Every aspect of the debate and the consideration
that is given this whole program
is... is troubling to me.
I... I mean... I...there's a disconnect there.
I mean...It just seems common sense....
I mean...there's no brain..
This isn't rocket science here...
Yes it IS rocket science....
that's the problem..
Hadn't thought about that..
As I just think out loud ....
as I meander through here.
(laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh)
That's the problem.

Just what is so wrong with being a bug exterminator? It seems to me that everyone calls one when they get fleas and termites. Has this suddenly become a disreputable job, like soldier, policeman, rancher, logger, entrepreneur, etc.? Lord knows those people aren't as valuable as campaign manangers!

ROTFLMAO!!!
To: woodyinscc
My read on Mathews is that he's an old-fashioned union-type democrat, not a socialist. That would explain both his comments re work, his bias against Republicans, and his dislike of Clinton.

B,b,b,but wait?
Mathews is a biased screetching liberal!! I thought we hated him now?
OK...Wait a minute...What way were the lemmings heading again?
To: expatpat
That is where his roots are(he grew up in Philadelphia)
He has a lot of brothers and sisters, who I have heard him say are conservative. I still can't watch him anymore.

With all due respect to the comments so far, what's scary about Brazile is that she is so GOOD at her job. She was hired as Gore's campaign mgr for one reason, IMHO -- to orchestrate the "walking around money", vote-stealin', election-day shenanigans that ALMOST put Gore in the White House.
That's the ONLY reason Gore hired her --she was damaged goods otherwise because her big mouth had put her in trouble in the past. But she is the MASTER at vote-stealin'.
Remember the shock we felt on election night as the Bush margin from days earlier disappeared in state after state. Brazile was the reason.

I didn't hear the Brazille comment, but I did catch one very incoherent rant by Pat Caddell. I still don't know what the hell he was talking about. I really felt embarrassed for him.
