BRITISH police investigating a terror plot by Islamic saboteurs have found chemical warfare protection suits in a north London mosque.

The discovery has shocked detectives, who believe the find confirms supporters of Osama bin Laden were planning a poison attack on civilian targets in Britain. Scotland Yard and MI5 detectives had kept the discovery of the nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) suits secret.

They feared disclosing it would spark panic.

Government ministers have warned any suggestion that the Finsbury Park mosque had been involved would have worrying racist overtones.

Police initially revealed they had seized a cache of weapons, including a stun gun, an imitation rifle and a gas canister.

Detectives last night confirmed that the protective suits were being tested to establish if there was any trace of ricin or any other poison.

The Finsbury Park mosque has a notorious reputation because of its use by radical Muslim clerical Abu Hamza to preach holy war against Britain and the US.

Two of Hamza's devotees include failed suicide bombers Richard Reid - who tried to detonate a shoe bomb while flying from Paris to the US - and Zacrias Moussaoui, who the FBI claims was to have been the 20th hijacker in the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington in 2001.

Sounds like the government ministers are incompetent folls who don't trust their own people to use basic human intelligence. They might as well have a slogan "Better dead then accused-of-racism".

If a church was ever found to have a full body bio-suit in its possession, the howls of "right-wing Aryanism" would lift the rafters. Churches have had bad press just for encouraging gun safety classes, even forgetting the churches where real loonies gathered.

Yet in London the police worry about racism when a mosque that foments revolution is found with several illegal or illogical paraphernalia items.

Just how much more involved could they get?

One must conclude that no matter how high the involvement of the mosque, Gov't ministers will not be willing to be open and frank with their people.

If the US has been open and frank about Iraqi and Al Quaida involvement in the first World Trade Center bombing, the Oklahoma City bombing and the TWA 800 flight bombing, 9-11 might not have happened.

I worry about the one in Plainfield, In. The place is west of the city and its one of if not the biggest mosque in the country.

It's on a fair amount of land and looks like anything but a "holy" place.

Common sense tells me if they are prepared in London, they are prepared here.
