BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi President Saddam Hussein said Monday he was not losing any sleep over a possible U.S. invasion of his country.
The United States is massing forces in the Gulf for a possible war over Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction program. Iraq denies having such weapons.
"I can assure you and put your minds at ease that I rarely find it difficult to sleep," Saddam told senior army officers, including his son Qusay, supervisor of the elite Republican Guards.
"I fall asleep as soon as I put my head on the pillow. I don't need sleeping pills, unlike some officials we hear about, and I don't get insomnia like some people do," the 65-year-old president said in the comments carried by the Iraq News Agency.

Sure....I bet he is sleeping like a rock moving from place to place every night! Ha!

I wouldn't mind putting him to sleep permenantly!

I don't remember asking him if he was losing sleep.
Whoever did ask him should have instead asked him how often he fills that diaper of his and specifically what sounds were likely to trigger that reaction.

Good. I want him to be well-rested for his ass-whuppin. Wouldn't want him to doze off and miss any of it.

He's losing sleep. That's for sure. He knows the end is near, and he's about to end up like Mussolini.

I'm willing to bet that Saddam's other Saddams are eating fistfuls of meds, worrying about which one of them will ingest a .45 cal pill.

If we had three or four dead Saddam's how would we know which one was really him? Facial experts? DNA evidence? DO we even have his DNA?

"My take is that he assumes that in the last hour, after all the troops are there & all the money we have spent to get there, he will get exciled somewhere."
I highly dought it because the Iraqi people are going to ultimately kill Saddam.

289 Million Americans Avoid Peace Rallies
(2003-01-19) -- Police across the nation estimate the crowd that avoided yesterday's anti-war demonstrations at about 289 million. Americans from coast-to-coast voted in absentia against criticizing the Bush administration for Iraq's failure to comply with U.N. resolutions.
Anti-anti-war demonstrators gathered in grocery stores, shopping malls and private homes to proclaim their disagreement with protestors marching in the streets of Washington D.C. and San Francisco.
"Going about my regular Saturday routine is my way of saying I disagree with the radical left-wing agenda of the anti-Bush crowd," said college student Melanie Sampson, who spent the day preparing a term paper for a literature course.
Police reported no unusual problems with the droves that stayed away from the protests.
"It was a normal Saturday in America," said one Sheriff's deputy.
Looks like these 289 million aren't losing any sleep either!

At first I thought this was a Select Comfort Mattress ad.
"Your President Bush is a 65. But I am a 72. When the Exalted Leader Of Greater Iraq needs some sleep I go to my Select Comfort. I heard about it on Rush."
"Call now for your free trial!"

LOL I can see Saddam doing one of those ads!

I read where in the last six months of the war for Mussolini...he was barely getting four hours per day of sleep. After the Germans killed his son-in-law...his daughter basically never spoke anything to him at all. The whole family held the death against him. The really amusing thing was that the son-in-law actually was maturing in nature by the time the Germans decided that he was secretly preparing to welcome the Americans. The son-in-law would have likely ran Italy after the war if things had worked out...he more or less had become a national hero and much more stable than Mussolini.

DO we even have his DNA? I know of one source of Saddam's DNA.
Some years ago he started having doctors draw out vials of his blood, which were used as ink to write certain passages of the Quran, and after what i believe was 2-3 years the manuscripts were finished and are in a museum in Baghdad. This was when Saddam started being more religious a couple of years ago (for decades Saddam had been very secular, as was Iraq ....but with his advancing age, plus the fact he wanted to make Muslims all over the world see Iraq's 'cause' as theirs, Saddam started having some Islamic zeal).
That should serve as a depository of saddam's DNA if ever needed since the dude used his blood for penmanship.
