The answer, of course, is because you made that deal with Trent Lott. And he's not here anymore.

Hey, what's unexpected? Senator Sarbanes is just demanding for their minority what affirmative action has done for years - special priviledges for the minority.

More dem whining.

They need to learn, and the Republicans need to have the backbone to teach, just what MAJORITY RULE means.

Frist needs to submit funding for 2/3:1/3. After the Dems filibuster for a few hours, resubmit funding for 3/4:1/4. If they filibuster again, resubmit funding for 7/8:1/8, etc.

I like this idea!

My idea is that, in the future, if a Dem starts to wrankle him, he can say "here kitty kitty kitty" in a thin creepy voice. That ought to give them pause (paws?).

If history is any indication, the Republicans will roll over and accommodate the Dems. They have no spine for guerilla warfare. They have to accept that all socialists and communists are, by definition, revolutionaries. They are willing to do whatever it takes to win.

The Dems have shown in the past that they will resort to incite violent demonstrations, disrupt the functions of civil government, etc. Until the Republicans are willing to do the same...well, lets just say that the Marquis de Queensbury rules have little influence on a street brawler. We're not engaged in a boxing match, this is a street fight.

Did you catch Sen. Allen from VA chastising Sourbrains, who previously claimed that the U.S. Constitution protected the rights of the minority, i.e. the minority party?

It was a hoot!!!

"If history is any indication, the Republicans will roll over and accommodate the Dems."

Well history has dictated that the majority party gets 2/3 and the minority party gets 1/3. Why should it matter which party is in the majority?

"How's about a more descriptive title?"

They are using procedure rules to stall the vote on organization claiming they are niot being treated fairly.

They just asked for another Role call.

KKK Byrd is the RATs' procedural expert. If he can be driven from the Senate, they'll be a lot less able to play these games.

Some committees like Judiciary have already agreed to accept Daschle's idea. The capitulation has already begun!

No matter... That means spending levels remain at previous years' levels... That's a plus for all of us...

The RATs can use filibusters. Almost all Senate business can be filibustered.
