Follow-Up on Fox News & Ratner
Special to Free Republic ^ | 10 January 2003 | Congressman Billybob (J. Armor, Esq.)

Posted on 01/09/2003 3:49:27 AM PST by Congressman Billybob

I just got of the air from broadcasting on "American Breakfast" with Ellen Ratner. Recall that she is the one who said on Neil Cavuto's Show on Fox that she "hoped" that President Bush would "mess up the war," so he "would not be reelected."

In short, she wants enough Americans to be killed in Iraq to cause the President to be defeated in 2004.

She told me, live on air three minutes ago, that "Fox News has just renewed [her] contract." Fox News had an ideal opportunity to get rid of this politically-bigoted and hateful "reporter" by not renewing her contract. Instead, they signed her on again.

I think FReepers should contact Roger Ailes, Neil Cavuto, and Fox News generally to let them know how stupid this decision of theirs, was. Starting NOW.

In a backhanded way, I think FNC keeps her around as the Poster Child for Hateful Liberalism. Her role as a foil serves to spotlight just how despicable she and her ilk really are.

If I wrote Fox for every stupid thing they do, I wouldn't get anything else done. While they do carry some news reports, they are getting to be more and more live "entertainment"--sort of like watching Jay Leno interrupted from time to time by "True Crime".

Her shrill rhetoric, and obvious hatred of America comes across easily on FOX where she is surrounded by logic and facts. It may help some on the fence to see the contrast. OTOH, she should be doing it for free just to get her mug on the air.

I think that's true. A foil. Same reason that the WSJ keeps Al Hunt around...

No surprise! As with other media outlets, FNC is migrating to become only another group of pimps of the election industry, similar to C-SPAN!

They repeatedly say that they are "Fair & Balanced."

Can someone help me find FAIRNESS or BALANCE in either the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. Constitution?

She's just part of the network's philosophy. Let her talk all she wants. Nothing can expose their ignorance better than their own words.

After I saw your initial thread, I copied and pasted part of your post, including the three questions you wanted to ask Ratner, and emailed it to the above email addresses. The addresses include FoxNews, Sean Hannity, Alan Colmes, Studio B, John Gibson, Bill O'Reilly, and Sheppard Smith. I also sent it to Ron Smith at WBAL. I also sent it to Andy Parks and Jane Norris at WMAL. Also to the G Man, Larry Elder, Sean Hannity's radio program, and Rush Limbaugh. Though I do not watch or listen to a lot of these shows due to job constraints and travel, I have heard nothing and no one talk about this. This is what I received from Jane Norris -

This may shatter your illusions, but FOx pays her because she makes reactionary statements like that. She stirs the pot, as they say.

All views welcome I suppose, It is especially grating for me as well, to see her making these assinine statements on my favorite news channel.

No one seems to care.

Having fine "Patriots" like Ratner mixed in with the rest of the FOX crew just showcases their disgusting views. Rush would approve and so do I. Point in case - just watch Hannity and Colmes sometime and see how they contrast and how much of a jerk Colmes is...

It's when these type folks are showcased without offsetting opinions that they become dangerous (to us, rather than to themselves).

You're right on the mark--the best way to be fair and balanced is to show the liberals for the hateful, shallow twits they are--and she is the epitome of radical-dumb. There is no better spokesperson for their side because she couldn't convince anyone of the merit of a democrat point of view if her life depended on it.

Agreed. I can't stand Ratner and switch channels whenever she's on. Wasn't her brother responsible for that God-awful "politically correct" version of the 911 Firemen statue? What kind of family connections does she have, anyway?

I can handle Colmes because I don't perceive him as having destructive motives. Ratner is just full of bile and bats and snakes.

Sometimes I just let the TV stay on FoxNews... and end up watching Shepard Smith and his bump and grind, tabloid TV Show. I then feel like I have to take a shower, and hope that no one 'sniffed' what channel I was watching.

Do the girls really like the part where he walks across the stage and sits down at that ridiculously small desk?

Well...

I think she is the perfect representative of the left. The more stomachs of decent Americans she turns the more the left is exposed for what it is.

I would simply call it truth in broadcasting. And buyer beware…

The strangest thing of all is that the more Ailes leans to the far left with his new hires, the more the other media attacks FNC for being conservative. Go figure!

Yeah, I got no problem with RATner. It would be a truly boring channel if there wasnt a liberal pinata to hit with a stick. So whenever someone says 'fox news channel is a right wing news outlet' I can say, well they employ Ellen RATner, to balance the views.

If fox really wanted to make an improvement they would polish up that Fox Morning Show. It's like visual Sand Paper. (I know some people love it)

There are two ways to look at this. You want her canned, which is understandable. You could also argue that it's good to keep her on TV so people can here the anti-American hateful lib views. That can be really beneficial to our cause, especially when it can be contrasted in real time by the conservative perspective. To me, that's the beauty of her being on FOX. Any other show and she would run free and unchallenged in any real way. I have to believe that when reasonable people can contrast and compare between a Congressman Billybob and a Ratner, we win the debate of ideas. Kick her off FOX and she goes to another show that won't provide that balance -- which is what we've had for years and years.

Far be it from me to offer advice to someone who has a lot more experience at this than me, but I would bet you $20 that you could really get her goat by sincerely congratulating her for the renewal and adding that the people of the US REALLY need to keep hearing her extreme views and bankrupt ideology bec it makes conservatives look even better. She would HATE that.
