Mike Haynes remembers when he would have sounded a lot like Garrison Hearst.
There was the day Haynes swore at his mother, the first time he dared to treat her so disrespectfully. They were arguing about a homophobic insult he had tossed at one her co-workers, a gay man she considered a friend. She insisted that her son apologize. He refused. He was 14.

I don't see anything wrong with what Hearst said. Why would you want one of those things in your locker room? And in the AP story about it, he didn't completely go out an apologize. Who would want a pervert on their team? I don't know what he's afraid of when he apologizes. Even in San Francisco (I feel sorry for all you SFers) perverts don't make a huge percentage of the population. And that's just the city, not counting the millions of fans in the surrounding metro area. The media may make a bluster, but as the election showed, it's actual, literal people, not just media hype, that counts.

The skilled host slammed this poor guy down, claiming that he was ignorant and intolerant and that we should celebrate these alternative lifestyles. When he squealed this "better than thou" preachy response, it was enough to make this conservative want to through a brick at my radio. He hung up on the caller and almost went into tears that someone could be so "hateful".
I would also encourage our freepers who believe in traditional values to call the Ron Owens show. I must warn those that do, however, that he is skilled at what he does when it comes to defending political correctness. Have your facts straight, stay calm, be assertive and stand your ground.

GS, I agree entirely. It is never wrong to speak truth even if the culture may disagree with you.
DWR, If more conservatives would speak the truth as GS did, rather than surrender to politically correct group think, this country would be in much better shape. Conservatives who run as real conservatives, unafraid to offend the perverts or the baby killers or whomever, normally win election. The vast majority of people know that those who commit homosexual behavior are sick and perverted and not to be trusted. While they don't have the balls to say it themselves they will support those of us who will stand up for truth.
(BTW, There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a bigot when you're right)

What I said and what Hearts said would have been considered normal in the media 20 years ago, even maybe 15 years ago. I would hate to think our country's been screwed since then.

Because the Same-sex Attraction Disorder (SAD) lifestyle demands public affirmation and celebration of their choices. To a healthy person sex is what they do, to a SAD sex is what they are. Without public affirmation of what they are the SAD feels worthless.

SAD has never been shown to be genetically caused. It has been shown to be caused by being molested as a child, having a poor or non-existent relationship with one's father and by being rejected (tormented?) by one's peers in the formative years. The existence of a large and growing number of "ex-gays" gives testimony that remaining in the SAD lifestyle is entirely a choice.
So yes, society should be able to shun, in whatever manner is most effective, anyone who remains in this perverse lifestyle.

Unfortunately the early death rate of people in the SAD lifestyle is well established. People who do sick behaviors tend to die young.

Seriously, football needs "don't ask, don't tell" for the same reasons the military does. They both recruit among young males (and yes, NFL teams recruit, drafting a player only lasts a few years) and both get a disproportionate number of urban blacks and rural whites. Among both groups there's a lot of what the left would call "homophobia". It's not...it's not even a dislike of gays as people. It's revulsion at the idea of participation.
And yes, being "checked out" in the locker room would qualify as "participation".
An NFL team known to have openly gay players would be at a disadvantage signing free agents. This would cause them to be less competitive, increasing the disadvantage. The spiral would continue until they are....well, like the Bengals.
